I see that Yes to ban soccer topics won the poll.
I also see loads of soccer topics on the forum.
What went on with the whole thing and what was the outcome of it all?
Whats the story with the Setanta Adds?

Bossman is still mulling the result over with his board of directors but me thinks the Setanta adverts might indicate soccer stays.

Well, we have a result. Many people voted No, even though they are unhappy with the soccer topics. As far as I am concerned I have a mandate to close the soccer topics, if I judge that to be in the interests of a better forum. However, I will give it further thought before making a decision.
In the meantime, anyone opening a soccer topic or commenting on one, needs to be very mindful of the forum rules because will apply them strictly.
As regards the Setanta ads, they indicate nothing in relation to the soccer topics. Setanta are keen to build the audience for their League coverage and they`ve come to the right web site to do so.

The real issue here is AFR has asked for a price/ new sponsor for how much it will cost him to change his banner from to "AFR The GAA & Soccer Unplugged".
PS. I voted to keeping soccer off this forum!. Better shut my gob now. Too much beer on board.

Many people voted multiple times as well, according to themselves, and others say they couldn`t register a vote at all.
Perhaps another poll is needed for to have a genuine result?

An open show of hands with a simple yes or no would have been easy to count and easy to see if people had voted more than once.

Based on reports that have come to my attention, the validity of the outcome is open to question. I have been reliably informed that:
- a number of gentlemen from New York disappeared off to the toilet when the vote was being taken.
- a gentleman from Cork with a combover insisted on rechecking the numbers with what appeared to be a 3B Faber-Castell pencil.
- a gentleman of advanced years from Limerick insisted that his conscience could not allow him to vote against his conscience as defined by Rial 233. (b ) , Treoir Oifigiuil 1884 (since amended and delete d on a number of occasions but not to the satisfacton of the said gentleman from Limerick ) .
- a gentleman from Drumcondra offered free FAS junkets to Cape Canaveral to voters committing themselves to a certain outcome.
- gentlemen acting on behalf of the Russian Federation and the Peoples Republic of China attempted to influence the outcome by promising a veto in exchange for All-Star trips in 2014 and 2015.
In fact, these damning revelations would have been aired on Primetime last night had special phonehacking equipment not been impounded by a commitee of inquiry currently being held in London.
Sir, in light of the above, I believe, a Special Congress is necessary before any decision is taken.
