Petty and unnecessary comment which says more about you than it does about him. And I am a cat by the way, before you call me a Waterford waster or some such.

Exactly, what kind of simpleton makes a comment like that. Christ almighty it doesn`t even make any sense.

It`ll be great to see Dan back going for goal again.
I wonder is there any hope at all of Ken giving it another rattle, or are his injuries a deal breaker?

No disrespect intended to Big Dan or Ken. However at approximately 34 years of age they`re too old to make a comeback.
They owe us nothing and are well within their rights to enjoy a few pints and an occasional breakfast roll. Retirement has its perks after all!!

Strange one if this is true but in Clare, I felt that Niall Gilligan had something to offer in 2010 and again last year. Not sure how fit Dan is but you cant beat an old head in the dressing room.

Ah yeah in the Paul Scholes roll maybe? In fairness to Dan he deserves his retirement and should be left alone. If he feels he is worth another shot at it then so be it – he wouldn’t be any worse than some of the stragglers yesterday who were nailed to the ground and stood back admiring their men cleaning up ball for fear they might have to put in a shoulder.
By the way danny, did Dan tell you what was good on the menu in the Park by any chance?

I think Dan would be right to stay in retirement. Has earned a great reputation and would only tarnish it if he came back. Enjoy your retirement big man.
Call me sentimental but Ken on the other hand would be a serious option at 10 or 12. Waterford have zero puck out options (assuming Brick HAS to go back to 6 ) . Ken retired after playing MIDFIELD on a super-athletic Pa Cronin fresh from a Fitzgibbon-winning winter

Ken McGrath is naturally fit is very lean and his knee would have got a break from intercounty training. How did he go for the club last year??? He could be an option at 14.
Dan on the other hand might not have that same level of natural fitness but he just knows where the net is. What do the Waterford folk think??
Phil Bennis would tell you that if a player is 16 or 40, that if he is good enough he should be picked.

Would love to see both of them back but being realistic their days are over as intercounty players. Of the 2 I would think that Ken would have more to offer. If you want a ball winner on half forward line then Darragh Fives is the man. Have watched him Club hurling with Tourin for the past 3 years and when he was on half forward line he was superb, scoring plenty and has unbelieveable hands. Wasted on full back line imo

Richie Hogan fairly wasted him OK. Fives has not been too impressive so far this year.

Was excellent for UCC all year.
Did very well on Paudie O`Sullivan except for one 50/50 which could have gone anywhere but landed in Paudie`s lap for a goal.

Can you imagine the big man and Davy going at it in the Munster Championship this year after all the goings ons between the 2!!!!!!!
Alas i`m afraid to say i doubt it very much that we`ll see either Dan or Ken back in a Waterford jersey competitively again but we always have the memories.
I know Dan has given away all his Waterford jerseys for different charity events down through the years and only kept the one he wore when getting the winning goal in the Munster Final against Cork in 2010. As late as last weekend he handed over a signed hurley and a personally signed training top (as that was all he has left ) for the Shave or Dye campaign held in Aglish on Saturday night...................................Just a measure of the man`s personality and stature.
I spoke with one of the organisers of the event and she told me the man didn`t think twice when asked if he could help out in some way and both items went towards some of the 11k raised on the night.

What makes the GAA great. Fair fúcks Dan. (Dead right to keep the 2010 jersey, what a finish! )

Not sure if Ken or Dan still have a role to play (if they wanted it ) , but with current management after re-introducing Ian O`Regan and Paul O`Brien into the team from the wilderness, who knows.
Always felt Dan could have played a role as an impact sub at full forward, but that said he`s gone now, so who knows if a recall is in both his and the teams interest. Ken I`m not so sure about, as without his pace of times gone by, I think much of our gameplan would need to be tailored to him, and just not sure our mgt. team would be open to that. Still a remarkable man in the air, and a naturally gifted hurler, I just feel Ken`s game was always allied to his athleticism, and not sure he could adapt to make the most of his talents now.
Both would be good people to have in the dressing room, particularly Ken I feel, but to be honest it just all looks a little desperate on the part of Waterford, and the lads should be left enjoy their retirement (unless they want otherwise ) .
By the way, for what it`s worth, I don`t think either are better prospects at full forward than Shane Walsh, so there really are no soft positions in the team, in which to slot either in.

And yet Tony Browne doesn`t seem to be showing too many signs of slowing down.

It was just a joke lads, lighten up a bit will ye.
You have to admit it all the same, he`s a bit past it, I`m not sure he`d be much of a boost to the panel. Why focus on past legends when there`s young lads that need to be brought on?

I don`t think anybody seriously thinks Dan is coming back.
Ken on other hand could do a job but what does that man owe Waterford hurling?
