Am I the only one that gets driven mad by the media adding -gate to every controversy from Sven-gate to Bertie-gate. Does it not suggest a complete misunderstanding of the original event. Will someone please tell these people Watergate was a f**king hotel.

ip-gate?
i thinks it because adding the suffix gate helps people to identify that the story is a major scandal but it is fairly overused

How about the infamous `circumnavigate` about the compulsory circumcision of labourers on an Israeli building site? Allegedly.

Troysgate? Isn`t there a Watergate in Irishtown, Kilkenny, just by the brewery entrance?

Horse - Isn`t that little bridge near Hennessys (Joe`s people ) called The Watergate? Anyway, to change tack, I see the brewery is to close with the loss of over 90 jobs. Many`s the stolen hour I spent in the cellar bar there as a member of a `touring party`. Wandering around with a crowd of real tourists having the p**i being taken by the lads there - including Chunky at that time - and the tour guide trying to maintain a professional aspect in front of the puzzled visitors.
Mr. Mackell of the GWU is quoted as saying that Diageo has made a profit every year in Ireland since 1759. I had no idea their involvement in Ireland dates back almost 250 years.
Wandering off topic, I know, but verbal incontinence is the prerogative of the elderly.

Art, don`t be apologising at all.
When our new fearless leader is found out to have been a found-on (can you really be found out to be a found-on? ) in his brother`s tax-haven, and it was subsequently hushed up, it will definitely become known as Cowengate.

I couldnt say for sure if its called The Watergate. Shame about the brewery going alright. My mother used to work as a nurse in there and I know one man whos worked in there for a long time.
Doesn`t matter how much profit a company makes. It is never enough.

A few years ago someone damaged the gates to my local church when they crashed into them but the culprit was never found although there are a few suspects. The incident is still referred to as gategate
