Wouldn`t mind a proper discussion on this before it decends into chaos

With all the bull been written about 1978 the media seem to forget that Munster played NZ in 1989. NZ were WC champions at the time a and fielded a saturday team full of stars. I suppose it doesn`t fit into the Munster legend seen as though they were well beaten out the gate!

No disgrace in it all, although bear in mind that in 1989, a 22-point defeat was an absolute hammering, games were much lower-scoring then they are now.

Three years later Munster beat the world champions Australia in Musgrave. Now I know Australia don`t have the same reputation as the all blacks but there is never a mention of this win but we never hear the end of 1978 talk. I bet if you picked one hundred supporters at random tonight and asked them what year did Munster beat the reigning world champions very few of them would be able to give a correct answer.

your still playin thw world champs if munster were that good, we would have had an all munster irish team,

even though i would argue that a full strenght current munster squad would have had as much a chance of beating the all blacks than ireland on saturday, its a pity that the irfu wont let them play,

And i can see the post tomorrows if munster lose, munster hammered by all blacks , even though its a second rate munster team with only probably four starters, and i know its a second rate new zealand team but people on this board dont realise how much strenght in depth new zealand have

The whole Munster All Blacks thing would even make the English and their 1966 obsession blush. Great for the lads involved, a good day out for the supporters but in the scheme of things its box of smoke.

Its like Dubai GAA or Hong Kong GAA teams beating a traveling all star team, we all know that it would be down to the All Stars attitude and the team they field and not the quality of the opposition.

Deserves a few photos in the clubs house and a 30 year dinner but not the mythology that`s associated with it now.

It all part of the Munster Rugby PR and marketing push I suppose, how many former New Zealand player do Munster Rugby have anyway?

With Tipoki, Mafi and Howlett it will be like the All Balcks versus the Maoris!

Don`t get me wrong. I would love to see Munster win tonight but I am so sick of all the hype. Just pointing out that the media are very select ive in their memories.

Is the -26 handicap bet on NZ tonight is a good bet. Are they likely to go full pelt given the occasion. With Munster missing there first choice pack and half backs I reckon this could be a safe bet but hate backing against my own.

No English `success` or anybody else`s success has ever been hyped and over hyped like this, Munster beat a second string All Blacks team   (who had probably spent the previous night in the Jetland  )   in a game of no consequence to them, 30 years ago, and to have to listen to the sh1te that has gone on since then, and particularly in the last week is unbelievable - a helicopter or something brought in the ball for today`s game, unfcukinbelievable.

Oh yeah and today`s match was between a second string Munster/All Black team and an All Black second  (at best )  team.

It did not bear thinking about if Munster had won tonight.

jaysus lads, it must eat you up that something like this catches the public,  (a celebration / event ) , and not the puke the Limerick public had to put up with from the hurlers during the summer...
