Waterford county board are taking solutions from clubs on how to solve the Fixture shame which has the club scene in ruins... The County Board seem to be clueless on how to solve the problem. Somehow this does not surprise me.
My own club put forward a motion that different commitees would be put in place for individual grades where they would be working closely together to get an organised set-up running smoothly immediately if not sooner.
Hopefully club players in waterford will be allowed a bit of fair play and not be abused anymore by the cowards that hold positions on the County Board
Below is the ABBEYSIDE Proposal
`Fixtures motion to cause debate
A motion put forward by the Abbeyside/Ballinacourty club is set to ensure a massive debate at this year’s annual convention that will be held next month.
The club have asked for the group stages of the senior championships be completed before July and the annual break for the inter-county championships.
Waterford could not field a senior team in the Munster club senior football championship this year as the campaign is not only finished, but it’s only at the quarterfinal stage now!
The poor weather has wreaked havoc with the fixtures this year, which has left many clubs frustrated by their lack of competition during the summer.
The debate is sure to be an interesting one and the rest of country will look on with great interest as many ponder over various solutions to the problem. `

Its an absolute joke that games are put on hold because of the county team. Cork is a bigger county with more clubs yet it can always get the fixtures run off. Having the county players wrapped in cotton wool during the summer is the big problem.

two questions
how many clubs are there in the cork senior championship?
how many games is a club guaranteed in the championship?
my understanding is that there are only 16 senior clubs in it added to 8 sides between the divisional and colleges teams with a one chance followed by a losers group for the clubs with one further chance.
how hard is it to run off that for god sakes?
in clare there are 20 senior clubs with each side guaranteed a minimum of 5 games 4 group games followed by at least one knock out match. by the time a club wins the clare county championship they will have played 7 games

I think there is 12 teams in WDSHC..
All teams divided into round robin groups then Q Final and so on...
Football played in same knock out system. But there are 4-5 teams per group in the football and it gets messy every year e.g. the St Brendans Gaultir play off game this year where the winners never went onto the Q finals when both clubs thought that they at that stage... Once again another laugh for the Board.

The Waterford SFC final was finally played yesterday but the fat lady hasn`t sung yet as it ended up all square .
Ballinacourty 0.11 The Nire 2.05 .
Aertel yesterday evening said that the replay is on this Wednesday .
WEDNESDAY !
Surely to God seeing as it took `til now to play the final another week wouldn`t matter and they`d have the replay on a Sunday .

These guys are really the worst shower of fools in the GAA, there was no programme for the county final last Sunday, it was barely a sheet of paper with the teams listed. How these lads can be so incompetent and yet the Waterford clubs don`t kick up a holy storm is beyond me.

Its a pity that this championship wasnt run off in time as you`d imagine either the Nire or Ballinacourty would have had a right crack at the Munster Championship, especially seeing as Ballinacourty were very unlucky last year, judging by the MF yesterday they could realistically have gone one better this year had they been given the opportunity. You might only have one chance at winning a munster final and fair enough if you get beaten on the day you can blame nobody but yourself but not to be even given the chance to get there due to the incompetence of your county board is nothing short of disgraceful..

I can never understand how the Waterford County Board get away with the way they run the County Championships. Imagine playing the final of the SFC on 7th December, the same day as the Munster Final. I am not from Waterford but I would suggest that the winners of the replay between the Nire and Ballinacourty would have every chance of beating Drom-Broadford or KIB in a championship match. Having no programme for a County Final is really adding insult to injury. Does Croke Park not have sanctions in place for a County Final being played in December so preventing the winners from playing in the Provincial Club Championship. It is hard to believe that this can happen when you consider that Waterford Senior footballers were eliminated from the Championship in May!!.

There actually was a programme at yesterday`s county final (admittedly I came early ) but there was no band, no parade, not even canned music, no attempt to create an atmosphere around one of the two main events in the county`s internal competitive programme - but what would you expect from the people who "arranged" to have this game played in December?

And despite all the above Waterford have several clubs more than capable of holding their own against the best in Munster , Ballinacourty , Stradbally , The Nire and Rathgormac spring to mind .

In truth only Ballinacourty and the Nire would be capable of beating the other top teams in Munster IMO. But that is a massive achievement by those clubs considering the Waterford CB`s attitude to football. The thing about it though is that it isn`t only football which they f**========= up but also hurling so there can`t be any club in Waterford that think these lads are doing a decent job. The one good thing about the farce that was our club champinships is that it might fire up the clubs enough to demand change.
