Big match for both teams, as winning would mean the only Munster Final reached in Hurling this year or either county. Will be played in Cusack Park on the 15th. A handful of Senior Players on either team.

Yeah, a big game for both teams.
I felt all year long that this was realistically Clare`s best chance of winning silverware in Munster.
On paper, we probably have a beter team than last year - but then again we`ve said that for many years in Clare about our underage teams and been wrong.
I will however be surprised by anything other than a Clare victory here and another showdown with Tipp.

clare should be too good for limerick, the heartbreak from last year will drive em on to get to the decider again and set things straight

having lost conor cooney james mcinerney gary o connell and damien browne plus gerry arthur from centre forward and the centre back from the bridge whose name escapes me i fail to see how you could make that assertion.

can you explain it.

you are assuming that the defenders that come in will be better than the above named or that the forwards who are largely the same as last year will compensate for the loss of such high quality defenders?

i hope you are right but i suspect we will be pushed to the pin of our collar to beat limerick as we always are particularly at this grade.

Very important match alright as both counties have faired badly in hurling this year.I presume it is the usual 7.30 throw in?

You`re forgetting twiceasnice that the 2 Donovans and Cian Dillon were away in the States at the time and would have been on it - they`re still underage.
Yeah, Cooney will be a loss full back - but Donovan centre back is every bit as good as James Mac in my opinion.
As far as I know John Moloney form Clonlara is under 21 still - am I right in that? There`s a straight replacement for Cooney.
Damien Browne will be a loss but the other 2 wont. Did Gary O`Connell even play in the Munster Final?
Quilligan was centre back - had a lot of problems there with Callinan in the seocnd one - it was Callinan that beat you. Donovan will be in there this year and Callinan wont get it soft.

I thought quilligan was outstanding in the final, and also im nearly sure callinan was on the wing.

Callinan was on the wing and marking Gary O`Connell at least for some of the game. O`Connell should not have been even playing as he hadnt fully recovered from injury and Callinan got a crucial goal.

Did Callinan not come in centre forward in the second half and do all the damage form there? I thought he did.

john moloney may very well be the full back but he is not as good a player as cooney in my view. domhnall o donovan is a good player but he is not as good as mcinerney and certainly wouldnt have the pace or height to handle callinan.

no matter what way you dress it up you are still talking about players who were in red hot form which was pushing them towards the county senior set up being compared to players who are either not within a mile of the senior squad or at best fringe players with no prospect of getting on the field

Donovan will be fine centre back - I`ve no doubt about that. Whether he`s as good as Mac remains to be seen.
In the forwards, Ryan, Conlon and Morey are still underage unless I`ve got things very wrong.
The goalie and Ciaran Doherty are still underage - as is Nicky O`Connell.
Darach Honan has to be there or there abouts for it.
Anyone else to add to that list lads?

Limerick beat Clare at minor in 2006.

However Limerick have been wiped at minor by Cork and Tipperary since. Limerick wont have that many 21 year olds on the team, and the following players who didnt play minor in 2006 will probably be there or therabouts on the under 21`s though some are carrying injuries.

Brian Sullivan, Philip O`Loughlin, John Kelly and Graham Mulcahy of Kilmallock.

Paul Browne and Bobby O`Brien of Bruff
Thomas O`Brien of Patrickswell
John Riordan of Templeglantine
Declan Hannon of Adare
Seanie Tobin of Murroe/Boher

Eoin Hayes is going great guns for Newmarket this year and should certainly be on the shortlist .

Moloney wont be full back from what i hear. Probably Cian Dillon. As much as i rate Cian i dont think he is a full back. Id prefer Moloney. The young Heck from the Mills will be there or thereabouts.

That Limerick team wont be bad. Condon had a great game in that minor match if i remember correctly, they also have Jamesie Ryan and one or two others.

Aidan Quilligan from the bridge was center back last year and was class.
Clare have a better panel than last year in my opinion. They lost James McInerney   (NOF   )   , Conor Cooney   (OC Mills   )   , Aidan Quilligan   (SMB   )   , Gary O Connell   (Wolfe Tones   )   , Damien Browne   (Cratloe   )    ans Ger Arthur   (Inagh-kilnamona   )    from the starting 15 but Liam Markham   (cratloe   )   , Enda Barrett   (NOF   )   , Cian Dillon  (Crusheen  )  , Eoin Hayes  (NOF  )   the 2 O Donovans and John Moloney   (clonlara   )   , Conor Tierney   (Inagh-Kilnamona   )   , Declan Morey   (SMB   )    can all challenge to come into the team. I expect Conor McGrath   (cratloe   )    and Pat O Connor   (Tubber   )    to get called up to the panel from the minors. Im surprised Paudie Fitzpatrick   (SMB   )    wasn`t called up to the panel he was very impressive in the Bridge`s victorious u21 championship.
Killian Duggan (Clooney-Quin )  who was Clare minor captain two years ago is not playing for the Clare u21`s this year i heard. Why is this does anybody know?
Clare to WIN handy enough!!

Limerick 21`s are playing the Seniors on Saturday in gaelic Grounds, should be good to see how both teams are doing.

Townie, Is Colin Ryan not still under 21?
Forgot about Markham - had a very good Munster Final last year. Been on the Clare senior football team if I`m not mistaken this year.
As for the Limerick under-21s playing the seniors - can`t really read anything into that.
The Clare under-21s played the seniors 2 weeks before the Tipp game and beat them.

Billy the Kid, you can watch away all you want I think.

Eaststand, I wouldn`t say you can`t read into these matches, sure wasn`t the 21`s beaten the Clare Seniors a sign of things to come!

I`m hoping that pj, but after that game, anyone would have expcted Tipp to hammer us.  (I always felt we`d be close to them, but must admit to having doubts after I heard that result - though I didn`t admit it ) . If these results mean something, well, lets just say everything will come up smelling roses.

in answer to the debate regarding the positioning of seamus callinan in last years u21 munster final
he did what most good players do
threw away the programme and played where the ball was for the entire second half
in fairness he was the real difference between the teams and not the umpire
as for this year there is a big motivating factor for the clare boys or at least there should be
how it pans out we shall wait and see but anthing other than a win against limerick would be a great dissappointment

Right you are Easstand. Anyway, a 17 year old starting for Limerick wing back more than likely.
