Any updete on Andys next fight, nothing up on boxrec but the french fella he last fought is out at the end of the month,i know he was very a very close friend to Danny fitz (the man who was shot dead before christmas ) and this might keep him out of the ring for a while but hopfully he will come back sooner rather than later as he has drop ped down to 19 in the world rankings from11 so he needs a good fight to put him back in the mix for a world title fight.

Slow down there, he`s still a young boxer and still progressing. Although I heard manny steward was unhappy that lee left for NY or somewhere with one of his trainers to prepare for the last fight.
Doesn`t make any sense to me for any of Lee, Duddy, or Macklin to fight each other before one of them wins a world title belt. Then let them keep it between the 3 of them for 3 or 4 fights. Reckon Macklin is the best of the three too.

Cant agree with you that he needs to revive his career, dont think his career is in that bad a shape as he has only been beaten once and all agree the fight should not have stopped and he was also ahead on points at the time, also Andy has won his last 5 fights and moved up to 11 in the world rankings, bring on Macklin!

.
I`ve heard his bird is based in NY so that might explain that one.

How does boxing work? From the outside it seems to be a sport ruined by having too many world titles WBA, WBC, IBF, WBO and particularly ruined by promoters? How do the rankings work?
Matthew Macklin No. 11 in WBA, 7 in WBC, 5 in IBF, 4 in WBO.
Andy Lee No. 12 in the WBA rankings.
And John Duddy is No. 12 in the WBO rankings.
How does somebody move up the ladder, pot luck seems to be important to move up the ranking.

I watched him boxing in ul and to be honest he has something to offer still and if he is clever he will make alot of money from the sport without reaching dizzy heights. More luck to him.

For me the jury is still out on Andy Lee. It’s been 6 years since the Olympics.
His professional record is a list of below average boxers with not one name of note, when you compare this to some of the other promising boxers of the 04 olympics like amir khan, andre ward, andre dirrell, andre berto, these guys at fighting at world championship level now.
His had his share of fighting second rate fighters, its time to do what khan did with barrera, find a boxer with a good name who’s past it and take him on, this catapulted khan into a world title fight.

Un-named...? Time to step it up Andy. Fight someone who`s scalp will do something for your career, not someone that`ll just increase your record. And go back to Texas and box Vera out the gate. Then your up there. Then you`ll be fighting in the Gaelic Grounds!

If Lee is a true Limerick man then surely his big fight will be a couple hundred yards down the road in the better stadium?

The better stadium as you call it is smaller than the gaelic grounds and is the home of true munster men,not true Limerick men. It,unlike the gaelic grounds is as much the home of Waterford men and Kerry men as Limerick men, whether ye like it or not! The"new field"will always be the home of true Limerick men like Andy Lee....

Lee`s camp offered Vera a career-high payday for a rematch but he chickened out. That was one of the worst stoppages in years, and Vera knows it.

This is what it is all about. Martinez is the recognised middle weight champion so there can be no questions posed of Lee if he wins this. This would be the biggest achievment in Irish boxing since Steve Collins beat Eubank.
I`d give him a good chance aswell. His conditioning has improved no end since the Vera fight and he has learned a lot from that. I`m sure himself and manny will work on a plan for the fight. Looking forward to it.

Massive night for Andy on Saturday, in against a tough opponent in the shape of Unbeaten Scottish Boxer Craig McEwan, who is trained by Freddie Roach and promoted by Golden Boy. Lee wont have manny Steward in his corner either as Steward will be with Cotto for his world title fight. Lee has beaten McEwan as an amatuer but McEwan beat Bryan Vera who beat Lee. The Winner of this is in line to taken on the winner of the Martinez vs Dziniruk fight directly after. The fight is Live on HBO so will give Andy massive exposure in the States
Fair play to Setanta as well to for showing the fight over here. it will be on around 2.30 Am and i for one cant wait
