Here`s a hint. Don`t bother with hints and just do the paper. There`ll be no hints in June and as this is supposed to be a dry run for that you should treat it the same way.

I`m not trying to be a smart ass.

If you`d any sense then you`d realise that it IS productive. What do you mean by "more productive"? Cheat notes? Info from those who have sat theirs already and whose paper might be the same as you are getting?

Forget about hints. They`ll do you no favours and won`t be any kind of help to you in June. Sit the exam knowing what you know and make up what you don`t know between now and June. Hints are a waste of everyone`s time.

It doesn`t take a rocket scientist to work out a pattern in exams i.e. look at past papers and you will find that topics nearly always repeat themselves

Why you looking for hints for the "mocks". They mean sweet f.a. - the clue is in the name.

Here`s a hint - ignore the mocks and keep concentrating on the real exams. I don`t envy you - if you don`t nail them and hit at least four or five good honours to get a decent degree course, there`s a decade of unemployment ahead for you. This country is banjaxed and the only chance you have is a decent leaving cert and a good 3rd level course.

Forget all that happy, clappy talk about "leaving cert doesn`t mean everything" or "just do the best you can".

That may have held some water a few years ago but those days are gone. Don`t be swayed by the stories of "I messed up my lc but am a happy millionaire now".

Load of bo**ix - decent lc is vital for school leavers of next few years.

Now, wtf are you doing on here - get back to studying!

Many a person I know got a sniff of the pre paper, got a bag of points and then when the real thing came they didnt deliver. I never believed in peaking too early for exams.

Do the pre on merit. Get kicked in the behind if you dont do well and then use the time between now and June to go the distance in the real thing.

I concur with you Dubby. You cant get a hint in June. This is practice for the real thing not, not some little assessment or christmas test.

I disagree with you D2 and S.L.R. If someone has an idea of one or two questions that are coming up well then if they are serious they are going to prepare answers and work bloody hard to learn them. If a similar type question comes up in June the work done will have stood to them.

Finty lads don`t get tips for the mocks. They get the entire paper. Two schools near us are finishing their Leaving Cert mocks this week while ours don`t start until after mid term. It`s an almost total waste of time if lads get these papers and prepare them and then ask that they be corrected. It is in no way preparation for the real thing and most lads that do this usually find themselves panicking about a week before the real thing when they realise that there are no hints at that stage. Much better off having a cut at it, seeing what you do and don`t know and moving on from there.

Doing the pres myself next week. As D2 has said its best to see where your at in terms of what you know. Went down the road of getting papers to copy for the Junior Cert. and it served me no purpose.

Getting the papers ahead of your mocks is a complete waste of time as you can`t do that ahead of the real thing. It`s far better to use the mocks for what they are actually intended: a dry run for trying out alternative, more practical and realistic methods of cheating in the exams that you can put into practice in June.

D2, is there anyway after your` students`ve done their` mocks that you could throw up a list of the English Questions  (that being your` subject. see I took note from last June! )  or topics or whatever they`re being called these days.

Be interesting to see how some on here  (I included )  would get on at 10-15-20 Plus Years remove from the Education System in the likes of English, Maths & Gaeilge let alone the optionals like Geography, History, German, French, Chemistry, Biology, Physics, Home Ec. etc.

As a bye your` leave, how many on here would`ve taken Home Economics as an elective thinking here we have a handy number to build up the points and get an A or B only for that not the case?

Lots of blokes do Home Ec now, some enjoy it, some just like the girls, but most blokes its because the choices on offer after Junior Cert   (in some Community Schools  )  are pathetic. My lad does it, he`s crap at it - thought it was going to be a breeze. Its a great subject, not sure how many points it gets though.

This is typical of the cossetted Leaving Cert students. Do the work and don`t be taking the easy option Get on with it. Do your study using a proper study plan. Check out previous exam papers.
Also realise that the world does not revolve around you.
We will have more bull s** in June and August about Leaving Cert students.
We dont give a s**e about you or how many points you get. You will be in the real world soon and how you perform in the Mocks and the L.C. will be of no concern.
