Obviously not, judging by last night`s embarassment!
I wonder how much they got paid for it?
Townshend looked like a taller, slimmed-down (but not by much ) version of Van Morrison, content to just strum the odd power-chord, here and there
(at least he didn`t try to smash his guitar ) .
I was sorry for `Porky` Daltrey, having to test his geriatric lungs the way they made him do
(particularly given the choice of song )
And was that Kenny Jones on the drums?
Come back Keith Moon, all is forgiven!
(I bet he threw his tv out of his celestial hotel room as soon as he saw that krapp! )
At least I`ve still got `Live At Leeds`
(to remind me )

I read somewhere that their expenses were taken care of but that they weren`t given an appearance fee as such.

The kind of exposure a band gets from performing the half-time show is worth more than an appearance fee. Ticket/album sales usually surge in the weeks after the Superbowl.

Repeat on Sky now. Thought they were outstanding at Live8 but Daltrey`s voice has gone to the dogs since then. Time to give it up lads. Don`t ruin the legacy!

Exactly, The Stones haven`t made a decent album since Tattoo You, but at least they are brilliant live. The Who were embarrassing.

Nah
Krapp song, anyway, to be fair
`Substitute`, `Pictures of Lily`, or `I Can See For Miles`: some of the best pop singles ever
(but they didn`t play any of them )

at what age was the sentiment reversed, Hoss?
and given that they are probably not all of identical age what problem did that entail?

Around the time John Entwhistle died I`d say, Jimbo.
For me The Who line-up will always be Roger Daltrey, John Entwistle, Keith Moon and Pete Townshend.
Similarly, the Stones will always have Brian Jones and Bill Wyman (in my minds eye ) .

bit different with the Stones, Hoss: didn`t Mick Taylor play on `Let It Bleed`, their greatest album?

Yeah I`ll allow you that, Jimbo. I think the first single Mick Taylor played on was `Honky Tonk Woman`.
A guitar virtuoso who couldn`t handle being famous was Mick.

I wonder has he got much royalties from those album sales?
I`ve hardly heard anything of him since he left the Stones!
