Stanford began their defense of the Gary Duffin Cup in this year`s Northern California College Hurling Championship in determined fashion and cruised to a comprehensive half time lead at Páirc na nGael. However, their cross-bay rivals came out with all guns blazing in the second half by scoring four goals and taking advantage of their superior numbers to romp home to a 4-9 (21 ) to 3-4 (13 ) win at the end of an epic battle.
Stanford now need to win the next game on February 27th to keep their championship hopes alive.

Does this mean our American cousins have discovered the `schemozzle`? The next matches will need a bigger stadium.

Stanford have one Irish lad who`s on staff, Berkeley have a player from Limerick who`s still working on his PhD there. The rest are all USAian students.

Great to hear Eamonn. Now if it would only take to the non-traditional counties the way it seems to be taking over there, then things would be super.

I think a few .... don`t like Mondays as they` ``came out with all guns blazing in the second half`` and this could account for the shortfall.
Should such shenanigans continue there could be calls for decommissioning to be expanded to our wild west brethren. What next....shooting the notebook ( Wild Bill Hickok style ) out of the poor ref`s hand? Lassoing the man in black when his back is turned to attract his attention. More threads on AFR...
