Looks like a dogfight at the bottom between An Dun, Iar-Mhi agus Cill Dara mar sin.
Might come down to outcomes of matches idir each other or scoring differentials etc.
T`Was a step-up for Kildare like t`was for Kerry last year but might do them no harm even IF they get relegated  (& nothing`s certain )  in this year Ring Cup to get experience against Top 12 Counties and Laois.

Who are your top 12 counties by the way?

What have Antrim and Carlow done in the last 5 years to make you think there`s nothing betwen either of them and Clare and Wexford?

Thy`ve improved while Clare & Wexford have gone back.
Clare travel to Casement. Don`t think there will be upsets but could be closer than you think. Clare & Wexford haven`t exactly set the hurling world on fire in the past 3 or 4 years.

I was basing that comment on last years League Standings where we finished 4th in NHL Div.2.
You could argue the toss wrt Ring/McCarthy but League Standings are what they are.
We`ve had a good start so far only losing by one up in Antrim & running up a good score versus Iar-Mhi.
One or even two Swallows didn`t make a Summer but we`re legitimately playing in Leinster & for Liam so anything else is a bonus.

Let`s be realistic here, much as I would love to be able to say that Antrim and Carlow have improved to the point of challenging Clare or Wexford. The reality is they still have a long way to go, Carlow have made great strides over the past few years but a true mark of a teams ability to compete with the `big boys` is consistency.

A few years back Carlow beat Offaly in a Division 2 game, however when they met again in that years Division 2 league final Offaly wiped the floor with them. Similiarly Antrim beat Wexford last year, but when they came up against Offaly were soundly beaten.

I think the GAA could do worse than restructure the league as follows, 2 groups of 6 teams made up of the present division 1 counties plus Clare and Wexford, and each year 2 teams that would be promoted up from Division 2 (one to each group )  to test their wares against the big boys.

And yes I know they had something similiar a few years back, but i felt they overly complicated by splitting the league up after the first phase.

So you`re saying Laois are not a top 12 county and Carlow are?! I presume you`re only trying to wind us up and of course I`m falling for it!
Carlow have won a few Christy Rings and they think they are sh*t hot. There is a world of difference between Liam Mc and Ring cup..yee`ll find out this summer! As bad as Laois have been the past few years  (and by God we have been bad at times ) , we`ve always been better than Carlow. Claiming yee finished ahead of us in the league last year as a basis of your superiority is laughable. Laois beat Carlow last year as they did in the championship play-off the year before. They actually hammered them out the gate that day. In my lifetime I can never remember Carlow beating Laois in a senior hurling match. Please God that trend will continue. Until then I think it`s fair to say Laois are ranked above Carlow.
