I was waiting for this tread to start.
My best tip I can give to anyone going to Galway Races for a few days is to be in the full of your health and don`t get caugth in the traffic.
On the horse side, I have nothing I want to disclose yet, but if your looking at form, look for previous form at the track. Kahuna was a stand out last year on his prior form at the track.

Cheers Scrubber, i`m well used to teh races alright, go every year, just haven`t mich interest in horse racing. Also have a crap memory of the horses from previous years!! Last year i did pretty well actually, iw as up around 200 after the whole week, most of that was won on the monday and tuesday....
I won`t be getting caught in teh traffic anyway, and i`m fairly sure i`m in good health!! : )
If you decide to divulge any more info, you know where to put it....

I`m 23 and this will be my 18th year on the trot going to the Galway races!
Regarding the Wednesday and Thursday, major tip: leave in plenty time! People get caught every year...
Also, have one or two at night in `The Whole in The Wall`... it will be messy : )

Not sure if that was an accident but its "the Hole in the wall"
Sure i know it well.....
I`ve been to ladies day every year for the past 9 or 10 years (i`m 26 ) and went at least one other day since i was about 5 or 6, i`d say we`ve crossed paths at some stage!! :D

I`m in the same bracket as ye lads. Funny how you change over the years though,we used always go to the hole in the wall,I wouldn`t go near the place now!! Too old i suppose. The bus is the only way to travel, bus lanes and no worries with having a few pints. I think the recession might help a bit again this year, the place had gone just too mental since around 2002 till `08. The greatest sports/social event in Ireland. Hopefully all the rain will have cleared by 26th. My best advice is do a few lucky 15s etc in the morning for small money,if you get one or two up you can sit back and follow that docket, saves you backing on the race up there...

Heading up from Thurles on Wednesday night after the Munster 21 final. Really looking forward to it! Some amount of Realt Dearg lads going! Could be 15-20 of us there for a finish!
I have nothing concrete on the tips front, the betting isnt really what you go for to be honest, just make sure not to throw on 50 quid on these races unless you are well up, they arent worth it as horses odds are all over the place for this week.
The main thing is to enjoy it down there, between the women and the banter i keep going back every year! But the main thing is the craic in Taffes and places on the Friday afternoon. I`ll go racing on the Thursday and probably Saturday this year. Will wear down the pocket so could do with a could tip at good odds also!

I hear some Claregalway hotel advertising, 75 per night pps. but thats still a nice bit out, but you would be on the right side of the city for the track.....
Other than that i don`t know, Thursday would probably be the hardest night to get a place to stay.

I fancy Jerry`s Agent & Spilt Ear on the first 2 today anyway.
That is based on my totally clueless opinion!
And maybe a 1, 2 3 of the favourites on the 3rd....
