I`m just wondering what people`s feelings are. Do you see these women are damaged goods?
I presume there would be more logistical problems. Having to find a baby sitter when you are dating.
She might be more interested in a rent-a-daddy than you.
The baby`s dad will be somewhere on the scene too.
Thoughts?

I think it can be as easy or as difficult as you make it.
Dont see someone with a child as damaged goods. There are plenty of single dads out there too. Obviously it can be hard because you cant head off on a spur of the moment day in the pub or weekend away. I think some can make it work and others cant. Depends on the type of person you are

If were you I`d go for it Darragh-judging by your posts you are quite the romeo getting through women like us mere mortals get through hot dinners. However, if you are nailing that much ass and you haven`t got a young lady up the Hillary yet then you might not have the strongest swimmers in the pool. This could be your one and only shot at starting a family, which regardless of what any young buck might think, is what we all want to do eventually deep down.

No Chance.
They are single for a reason.
The fact that you may not have figured out why is beside the point.
The only good ones are married so go for a married lass as they clearly have proved their worth.
Yours in advice,
GSH.

Once again I find myself agreeing with the lass. My beloved was a single mother and I can assure you that she has more mothering instinct in her small toe than 99% of those I see at the school in so-called stable relationships.

Personally I have a lot of respect for anyone male or female bringing a child up on their own because its not an easy job. They really have to put their own life on hold to raise the child and I take my hat off to anyone who is doing it.
Having a "stable " relationship means nothing. I know plenty of couples who have a so called "stable " relationship but they are not necessarily happy. Children pick up on this.
flog, that wasnt an offer, it was a question. theface2010 stated that having a family is what everyone wants to do deep down. I was simply asking if that was true. Never heard someone say that before

Difficult to say, Darragh.
Probably if you posted a picture I might be able to give you a better idea

I am aware it was a question Penny, my reply was an attemp (failed obviously ) at humour, i won`t start doing the stand up just yet....

flog, i have been getting a bit of grief on here the last few days so that is why i took the serious line. based on the last few days if i made a joke of it i would have been accused of flirting. dont give up the stand up yet tho........
lukey, in most cases it is different because most mother`s have their children full time where as a single dad may only have the child every second weekend and an few hours in the eve during the week. Its different when the child is there all the time. There are issues with no being in the house when the child is there etc etc because most mothers wont want their child meeting someone unless they think its going to develop into something more serious.

on the flip side of this thread - a friend of mine was with a guy for 4 years and they broke up recently (within the last few months ) . it wasnt a bad break up i think they just realise they were together out of habit rather then actually loving each other. she went out one night and met a guy, met him a few nights after that, numbers were swapped and they starting seeing each other. few weeks later she found out she was pregnant with the ex`s baby. told the new guy and the ex about the situation. ex said he didnt want to know and has not been in any contact with her since the night she was told. new guy said that he liked her and he didnt want to break up so they stayed together. she is due her baby any day now and they are very very happy. just goes to show that just coz you can make a baby doesnt mean you should/can be a parent

forgive me Penny but that sounds like the `plot` for a good few chick flicks that I have been subjected to over the last few years
going back to the original question. Of course is the answer... at least you know she will be up for it! :- )

Some good points.
I know I might sound old fashioned, and I realise most women are sleeping around these days.
However the presence of a baby confirms this to the wider community.
There is still a stigma attached.
The girl with the baby is still seen as the silly onw who got caught out by some.

Darragh Farrell, is this post just to cause a reaction??? "girls are sleeping around now" are you serious?? both men and women have always done that. you`re making it out that someone who is a single mother is a bit of a tramp - BANG OUT OF ORDER THERE
if you feel that way about single mothers then dont even consider starting something with someone because with your attitude towards her it wont last 10 mins

Pass no remarks on him Penny. He has two motives, one is, as you said, to get a reaction. The second is to bump up his number of posts. Most, if not all of what he writes here is trash, and that is obvious from other posters replies to his posts.

I dont think there are many people out there with the view you have anymore. Times have changed and having a baby out of wedlock is no longer the shame it once was (which is a good thing ) . If you think that everyone looks at a single mother and sees someone who sleeps around and just got caught then I think you are very very wrong.
lets just say a woman and a man meet and they fall in love and get married and build the lovely house and all of those other things people are expected to do and then one day the man dies. that woman is a single mother, did she sleep around - no.
