Do ye reckon Tipp will try the same tactics as they did against Waterford? i.e. give Noel McGrath a roving role just out from centre-forward? If so do ye think it`ll work - doubt if Kilkenny will allow them the time and space on the ball they got against Waterford. What other options do Tipp have in terms of the tactics for the day? Let Lar Corbett loose like last year? Is there anything else they can do?

I`d definately let Corbett roam.
I`d put young Bonnar Maher on Walsh and tell hi to get stuck in.
Brick Walsh tends to stand off his man a bit and that gave McGrath the space to do the damage in that game. Wont get the same space Sunday. Though probably better at centre forward. Kallinan can always be sprang from the bench too if needed.

mentioned it before but i think if McGrath drop s an extra 10/15 yds he will find the space against Kilkenny, their half back line does remain pretty much in place and not get drawn out the field. The only way to draw them out and thus create  room inside is if the likes of McGrath  (and Corbett if he moves out )  start knocking over points from 70/80 yds. The amount of ball Niall McCarthy got in the 1st half of the semi in space out the field was unreal but he hit a couple of bad wides and stopped going for scores then, trying to play the ball in where the Kilkenny half backs were able to sweep inside and make the extra man/men. Andy Smith the same in our game against them, you need scoring half forwards to hurt Kilkenny and i do think Tipp are best equipped to do this.

I definately think that McGrath will go centre forward. He can be very effective there and this could be KKs weak spot  (such a thing doesn`t exist but as close to a weak spot as they can have ) .

Tipp do need to up their game massively though. Waterford put in a pathetic display in the semi and still managed to hang in there. KK would have wiped the floor with us. Anything that can be said has been said at this stage so lets just let the game begin!

I`m of the same opinion about Maher. I think his high energy, high work rate could keep Tommy busy.

Yeah, broadly agree there, if McGrath or Corbett do drop  off then they will find a certain amount of space, but they will have to use it quickly and well before they get closed down. I have a feeling KK will be ready for this scenario this year though, and may drop  Eoin Larkin back to midfield and detail Mike Fennelly to pick up whoever is roaming. Just a hunch, but KK will have to do something if that scenario arises, cos either McGrath or Corbett can`t be allowed time and space to shoot from between halfway and the 45, cos they`ll nail scores 8 times out of 10 if they get the shot away.
