think its a close call beween cats and premier, with galway and waterford not far behind.a bit soon for clare but they are coming on.hopefully limerick can be competitive again.cork will be out of the picture for a couple of years due to transition period.dublin dont know hat to expect out of them yet.

Would be nice to see someone outside the big 2/3 win but it will probable be either Tipp or Kilkenny depending on how they react to win/loss Sunday

Can`t see Waterford doing much. Cork might not have the legs either.
Hard to think Tipp would be beaten for definite by anyone but by god once the cats have the wounds licked they`ll be back as hard as ever!

How good are tipp. Where the cats forwards not allowed play last sunday, or had they a off day?

Tipp/KK - and if they meet each other before the AI Final then Galway may have a chance.

I think it is more that coincidence that KK seem only to have off days when they play Tipp.
Between last years final and this years final , this Tipp team have proved to be the real deal.

Can anyone tell me if there has been a year since 1988 when Galway haven`t been tipped? Nothing against Galway I would actually like to see them win it but every year it`s the same whereas the likes of Waterford & Cork the last few years will be dismissed as not having a chance when I see very little between these teams.
To answer the original question think Tipp and KK will share the next 4 or 5. Unfortunately don`t see my own Waterford winning it until Davy goes or changes tactics. While defence has been our achilles the last decade, it is now our attack. With Tipp and KK likely to be putting up 25-30 points, you need serious firepower to compete and the last 2 years we just have Kelly from frees and Mullane regularly scoring which is just not enough.

I agree as a fellow waterford man. Tipp and the cats could share the next couple years, cats more than the premier. Deise need forwards, eoin kelly, mullane and thats it. But Galway could surprise us next year, they were close this year. I put put offaly and dublin up there as well if they get the right draw next year.

I always get a laugh out of threads like this because the same people who predicted Waterford would tank us, and that Kilkenny would blow us out of the water, will be explaining why it will be anybody but Tipp!

Nope, we are tipped every year because we always have a good minor team coming through.
Or else we had a good league campaign or we have a new inside forward that will turn the hurling world uspsidedown
eg (Canning , Cloonan ) .
I started thread a while back asking why Galway alwasy fail each year at senior level despite club, league, minor successes, but nobody replied.
Jaysus thats my mini rant for tuesday over (in fact thats my Tuesday over whoo hoo : )

I think there`ll probably be about 3 or 4 retirements from the Cats. not to mention that there`ll be an easing off in intensity.
Of course that could work both ways, with the monkey off their back, but they now know that we`re more than a match for them in physicality and intensity and, I believe, there`s a strong determination for everybody in the county to set aside all past divisions and get behind this talented squad of players.

I just happened to listen to the full TV3 interview Babs did after the Cork game. aside from the comments about our performance, which didn`t seem that bad, in hindsight, -since he was saying that Cork side would trouble the Cats, -he mentioned that Ring only won two league medals. nobody has ever treated that seriously.
The thing with under-age success is not all the great minors will progress to senior success, for a variety of reasons, including big minors can`t always depend on their size in the senior ranks.
And then there`s always other distractions for them, as they get older

Limerick to come back from the dead. A poor start to the league campaign, then they`ll finish brightly, they`ll get to the Munster final and cause an upset!

Whatever about next year, this decade will be dominated by Tipp/Kilkenny. Every other County are way behind these 2 teams. I can see Tipp winning 3/4 All-Irelands in this decade and Kilkenny probaly taking the rest.
I can`t see any other teams causing too many upsets if any at all. Galway/Waterford are too reliant on Mullane and Canning for there scores and a 1 man Forward line won`t win you an All-Ireland.
What worries me more is that I can see Tipp/Kilkenny getting even better when you see the Kilkenny minors this year that will step up to the mark at Senior level and the fact also that Tipp have more young talent to break through there panel such as Denis Maher,Michael O Brien and Sean Curran.
I hope I`m wrong but I can`t see any team at the moment looking like catching that big gap to Kilkenny/Tipp.

have to agree wit ya there Rathmore, but just think about all the lads that predicted KK to win 5/6/7 in a row that they were unbeatable and they`d hold the Liam McCarthy for years to come with there endless talent coming through! You just dont know wat will happen on a Sunday during the summer!! Look at Down in the Football this year..who`d have put them in an all ireland prediction at the start of the year!!

To be fair Damien Hayes was Galway`s best forward this year. Scored 4-11 from play in the championship. What Galway need to find is a half-forward line that can win enough possession and chip in with a few scores.

I think a lot depends on what Cody does. A motivator such as Cody who is willing to put in the effort for a decade or more is very rare. If he decides to go IMO Kilkenny will be rebuilding for the next few years, not easy to replace the likes of Shefflin and Hickey. If he stays he might get this great team to rise for one last stand.
I would say most likely he will go and then it will be a fairly open championship next year. It would be wonderful for hurling to see the likes of Offaly, Clare and Dublin challenge over the next few years.
As far as 2011 goes, Tipp will be the team to beat, but Galway have the hurlers to beat them if they get the tactics and intensity right. They are after all the only team that went to the wire with Tipp this year in a match that mattered (a knock out championship game ) .
