What does the Football all-ireland mean to ye this Sunday.

Obviously you want Cork to win I`m sure, but is there the same passion there, as is for the hurling, always wondered about it. I know that there is passionate Cork football supporters, but this is directed to the Cork Hurling contingent.

I am mostly a hurling fan and my gra for the big ball wouldnt be massive, but I would love to see the lads win on Sunday week, especially after the heartbreak of the previous years. After last years final, I promised myself i wouldnt go to a football game again, but i broke that last May in Killarney and hope to be in Croke Park Sunday week.

Tickets anyone?

depends what part of cork you are in. mid and west cork predominantly football and would be very passionate. you wouldn`t get the big city support for the football compared to the hurlers. cork people support both codes in general, its just that the hurlers have beem more successful and the better dual players opted for it though at present seems to be the other way around like back in the late 80`s.

I`m based in East Cork and every sports fan really wishes them well, however the fervour that would exist were the hurlers in the final is absent. Some of the crowds in the football qualifiers were very poor, barely 3,000 v Cavan, less than 10,000 for a local derby against a fancied Limerick. The Cork contingent against Dublin in the semi-final were hugely out numbered, this would in my opinion, never happen in hurling.

Hardly a surprise Dublin outnumebered them.If Dublin were successful at hurling they would probably outnumber all other hurling counties also

.................outnumbered v Dublin was to be expected, but not as overwhelming as it was.

I suppose you are right. I suppose the fact that they think a League Final is only a kickaround is why Offaly don`t bother trying to get to them anymore.

I was only codding but there is no denying how dreadful Corks record in All Ireland football finals is 16 losses and only 6 wins is an awful record

Hope Cork win as they probably deserve one, but Down will take it unless Cork up their game significantly and play FOOTball.

Not the same passion as for the hurling, little in the way of build up so far anyway, very few City players ever feature bar Nemo fellows. Wont be going as simply I`d be taking a ticket from fellows who would have far far more interest.

Its hard to put my finger on it, but I reckon most GAA followers in the City and environs are hurling fans. Our problem is that the hurlers will be out of it for years under the present regime! The bigball has its fans but its hard to live in the shadow of the small ball in the City anyway!

Agree Offaly, its not good but if we win next week we wont care a bit, no point looking back....and besides in the last 4 years we have won 2 All Ireland U21s so this would cap off a good few years for Cork football in general.
