The Annual Beamish Stout All Ireland Club Football Sevens, organised by Kilmacud Crokes GAA Club will take place this coming Saturday, September 21st….

The tournament, which this year celebrates its 30th Anniversary is being held at Glenalbyn, the Dublin club’s Stillorgan home. The seven-a-side event has become a traditional curtain raiser on the eve of the All Ireland Football final at Croke Park the next day.

The chairman of Kilmacud Crokes football committee Pauric McMenamin said, “The Club is delighted once again to be such an integral part of the All Ireland weekend. Forty eight of the best club teams in the country are competing for the premier All Ireland Seven-A-Side title ensuring a fantastic days football”.

Almost every county and most county Champions are represented at this major one-day championship. As well as the Kilmacud Crokes clubhouse pitch at Glenalbyn and their Silver Park grounds in Leopardstown, the tournament will be held in the sports grounds of Clonkeen College, Cabinteely and at St. Benildus College, Kilmacud. The first round games of this fast-moving spectacle will begin at 11am at each venue and will be officiated by Irelands best-known senior county referees.

John O’Callaghan, Marketing Director at Beamish & Crawford today said, “The popularity of the Beamish All Ireland Club Football Sevens seems to grow every year and I would like to congratulate Kilmacud Crokes on their professional organisation of the event. We at Beamish Stout are very proud to sponsor an event that gives club players a chance to show their skills and compete on one of the most important weekends in the sporting calendar”.

The competition is structured with twelve groups of four competing on a league basis, guaranteeing each club a minimum of three matches. Following the completion of these preliminary rounds the knockout stages from the quarter- finals onwards (starting from 3.30pm), are contested at the Glenalbyn Ground. The final takes place at 6pm, with the teams parading behind the Artane Boys Band before the throw-in.

Serious discussion on who are favourites to take this year's Beamish All Ireland Sevens in football between Pauric McMenamin, Chairman, Kilmacud Crokes football committee; Gail Kaneswaren, model; and Richard Finnegan, Business Development Manager Export, Beamish and Crawford, sponsor.
