Fuelling the Féile passion - Wexford handballers
Five Wexford teams will travel to various venues in Kilkenny and Carlow next weekend for the 2007 Féile festival, and all five look like serious contenders for title honours. Eight competitions with four 40 x 20 events for boys and three for girls, along with a 60 x 30 competition for boys, ensures that some competitive handball action will be seen over the Féile weekend, which will run from June 15th to 17th next.
Wexford will be represented by Bridgetown, Horeswood, Oulart the Ballagh in the 40 x 20 competitions, with Castlebridge one of the favourites in the 60 x 30 Division 1 competition, and Templeaudigan also seeking Féile glory in the big alley.
Since 1971 over 1 million boys and girls have participated in this great festival, and next weekend looks set to showcase some of Ireland brightest young handballing talents.
A parade will take place in Kilkenny City on Friday, followed by the skills section on the festival, with Saturday marking the beginning of the serious competitive business. Bígí ann!
