Well lads, i know there are a few evertonians on here and was wondering what your fellings are on the lack of transfer activity at Goodison this summer?

even the rumourmill is poor, canales on loan? lewis holtby? the only rumour i likw is swopping billy plus cash for aiden Mc Geady, now that would be a cracker if it happened but i can`t see it.

Personally i think the squad does not need major alterations if the key players stay, and on a bright note at least Bothroyd has gone elsewhere!

I also meant to say for the thread to stick to topic and not descend in fans of other clubs starting slagging matches!

nzogiba would be a quality signing but with villa after getting crazy money off the redsh1te and them shown an intrest in him we can forget about that..
mc geady...christ i wouldnt be saying he`d be a cracking signing but he would give 100% anyway..

Ya, another frustrating summer in the transfer market. I`ll be happy enough if none of the current squad are sold off. If the Yobo deal can eventually be completed it might generate enough cash to bring in another squad player, the days of expecting a new player for a record transfer fee are long gone. Mc Geady for Bily might be an interesting option, if only for the fact that he couldn`t be any worse than the Russian.

They play Bury in a pre-season friendly tonight, Fellaini and The Yak both starting. It`s imperative that Fellaini is not sold, and while I`d love to see the Yak back to the player he was pre his achilles injury, it`s highly unlikely. Cahill should be revitalised following a good summer break, and who knows even Saha might be able to string a few games together. Hopefully, having one years Premiership experience under his belt will have benefitted Beckford and he`ll be slotting on a regular basis this season.

All in all, not a whole pile to be getting excited about, but I still believe theres a stronger squad there than say at the likes of Sunderland, who have made 9 Summer signings. Top 7/8 at best again, League cup of F.A cup only chance of glory.

Pretty much agree with all you have said, i dont think everton can rely on Saha, fantastic when he plays but 20 games seems to be the max to hope for given his recent record with injuries, i hope the Moyesiah play 2 strikers in home games as well, i find that Cahill off a main striker in away games is very effective but does not pose enough of pressure on opposition at Goodison, i think Beckford did really well for his first season in the prem even if he is a litle petulant

ah becks will be fine..needed to sharpen up a bit...andy cole was a very sim player when he came to utd..needed 9/10 chances to score one..read cantona`s book last week and he couldnt stand how bad cole was...
cahill form is so important to everton and with him getting his first full pre season for ages is good news and holding on to big "screech" is vital.he would be like a new signing..
the squad is fairly good but would like to see 2/3 new faces in but heres hoping!!

A return to form for Arteta would be a welcome boost too, he was shíte for most of last season....not good enough when you`re the highest paid player in the squad.

I think the best hope is a couple of loans, fernabache are in the turkish match fixin scandal so no money comin for Yobo, good point about `our tater` he was not these last season hopefully a full preseason will see him, fellani and cahill hit the ground runnin

holding onto baines and big felli is a must..yak could be ok ya know..he had a great loan spell.is he fit enough for the prem?
coleman is going to be used as a right back or so im told this season.great season from him imo too.

it would be great if Marvin turned out like a Moyesiah masterpiece like Cahill, Jags or Coleman, he looked ok the few times he turned out last season, as you say preseason games mean nothin

Don`t get to go meself either, hope to change that this season and get over to one game at least. Which, if any, of the Everton messageboards do ye use? I`d say you`re a Bluekipper man yourself Sean, going by some of them nicknames...Marvin!

A lot of the message boards are schite, i used to love `whenskiesaregrey` but it closed i use newsnow- everton at mo which feed into toffeweb and bluekipper etc, personally i think the liverpool echo site is the best for actual news

Goodison is best seen at night, these days.
Great memories of watching them in away games in London during the 70s Mackenzie, Lyons, Thomas, Latchford et al.
Used to watch Arsenal even though Alan Ball had left and they had three Dubs playing for them, back in the day.Not the same though.
This time next year WE will be....

Ha, like most Old Ladies, It`s best seen in the dark these days alright! Can still generate a great atmosphere every now and again though when the mood takes it.

Don`t know Sean,He`s had plenty chances at this stage. He`s technically good and has a rocket of a shot on him, but physically he doesn`t look strong enough for the Premiership and appears frightened in a lot of games, his performance at Old Trafford last season was disgraceful.

yeh im based over in the city 3 out of every 4 weeks with work so i have the season ticket a few years now.

most interesting thing here in the past couple of weeks is the moves made by fans groups, some newly formed, in calling out Kenwright on the lack of money/takeover bids/Philip Green influence etc and should bring things to a head pretty quickly.
