PANEL - 2012: David Breen, Kevin Downes, Shane Dowling, James O`Brien (all Na Piarsaigh ) , Paul Browne (Bruff ) , Tom Condon (Knockaderry ) , Declan Hannon & Wayne McNamara (both Adare ) , Seamus Hickey & Sean Tobin (both Murroe-Boher ) , Niall Maher (Doon ) , Brian Geary (Monaleen ) , Richie McCarthy & David Moloney (both Blackrock ) , Niall Moran (Ahane ) , Graeme Mulcahy & Gavin O`Mahony (both Kilmallock ) , Aaron Murphy (Hospital-Herbertstown ) , Mark Carmody, Seanie O`Brien & Thomas O`Brien (all Patrickswell ) , Donal O`Grady (Granagh-Ballingarry ) , Shane O`Neill (South Liberties ) , Nicky Quaid and Thomas Quaid (both Effin ) , James Ryan (Garryspillane ) , Stephen Walsh (Glenroe ) , Mark O`Riordan & Conor Allis (both Croom ) .
Average age of the panel is 24. 5 new players on the panel (Thomas Quaid, Conor Allis, Shane Dowling, James O`Brien, Mark Carmody ) . Coming away from that though, todays heading in the sports section of the Limerick Leader really took the biscuit. John Fitzgearld taking over the 21s hurling team. If the county board had any brain cell at all they would have given the 21s job to Shane Fitzgibbon and the minor job to Anthony Carmody. Carmody has had that panel of players all the way up along since U15 level and Fitzgibbon wasnt even nominated for that position. Ye can say what ye like about his son being involved with the 21s but the fact of the matter is his son is good enough to start on the team anyway regardless of who the manager is because there is no one else there that is better than him. I feel sorry for Anthony Carmody for being overlooked for the minor job but sure what do you expect when you have people like, Mrs Doubtfire, His Tanaiste, Santa Clause and The Godfather on the select ion committee. God help us, sure they wouldnt hurl snow out of ropes. What I think they are trying to do is bring Limerick hurling in disripute again and that they are doing it deliberately. I mean what experiene does John Fitzgearld have at this level? He managed Adare this year and what did he do with them? Something has to be done. A motion of no confidence should be table d in the county board, full stop. The future of Limerick Hurling is at stake. With those nuggets at the top table we are going nowhere. Hopefully the club delegates will finally open their eyes and see the light. COUNTY BOARD OUT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Fitzgibbon couldnt get the under 21 job because his son was underage for the next two years. That is a sensible and correct decision.
However we were told by Liam Lenihan at last years county board meeting that Shane Fitzgibbon would have the minors in 2011, Anthony Carmody would have the minors in 2012, the 17 management of 2012 would have them in 2013 etc. and that it was important for Shane Fitzgibbon to be elected last year because the progression system would fail otherwise. Fitzgibbon did a fine job on this years minor team, hammered Cork, would have made a Munster final but for a nightmare start below in Waterford. He will feel that a second crack is justified and with good reason. However if they were so insistent in keeping to the progression system in 2010, its very harsh in 2011 to shaft the management of the Under 17 winning squad.
I am led to believe that the minor appointment will be challenged at tonights meeting. Wouldnt mind being a fluy on the wall at that one. However its like all the hot air you hear of before meetings that never arises, a few phonecalls and a few tickets etc. solves the problem.

Well to my mind that`s a balanced panel, as strong as we can muster if you ask me anyways. Allen hasn`t gone overboard on the youth. What`ll be really interesting is to see who of Brian Geary, Donal O`Grady, Niall Moran and Mark O`Riordan will make it next June. Even more interesting, who out of those names will be wearing the no.3 jersey then.

Not really sure that it is a great idea to keep the same manager with the same team up through the years as a hard rule. Good to freshen things up.

Managements ratified tonight but not without opposition from the floor I hear. I didnt hear the exact details but I was told that Frank Reidy told a lot of home truths.

Thats what is needed. People who have the balls to stand up to these clowns. It just shows you whats really going on with appointments like these. The longer these crowd stay here the more damage they will do to Limerick hurling. You can also see that the fall out from 2010 is still very much apparent because most of those fellas on the select ion committees who put forward these appointments were from clubs who backed Justin McCarthy in the midst of the crisis but sure does anything change with these crowd of fools. Their a bit like watching Paddy McGuinness on Take me Out when you are stoned out of your mind.

Interesting point.
The general perception out there is that Donal O`Grady picked the panel before he left. I am not saying its true, all I am saying is that its being said.

Any reasons why Pat Begley was overlooked and we still don`t have a full back?? (Unless they finally play Richie Mac in his proper position?? )

I think Pat Begley would be a good choice but maybe they are thinking of Geary there? But the panel is exactly that and will change. Lets not get too worked up over what might be.

So the next question would be: Is it O`Grady or Allen who drop ped the nine?

Only 2 from kilmallock on the panel bit of joke seeing as their probably the best team in the county. O`Brien and Ryan didnt deserve to be drop ped imo.

stones_off who is better than them the mighty na piarsaigh is it wit the pick of the whole north part of the city. Kilmallock hammered them in 21s this year dowling or downes did nothing in the game. Kilmallock should have won county this year they have the stongest panel in the county and are still very young i am fairly confident they will win it next year. so stick your samrt comments up your hole.

Your point is pretty hollow seeing as the Daly Cup rests North of the Shannon for the next 12 months. Thats the reality, and you cant change that. Na Piarsaigh, by way of that fact, are the best team in Limerick for 2011, just like Kilmallock are the best U21 team in Limerick in 2011.
Na Piarsaigh are Kings of Limerick Hurling 2011.....accept that.

drop ped I think.
Spent a lot of last year on the bench, and the trouble with being on the bench is that you dont play either club or county and its costly, because if you do get a game, you arent match sharp.
