Game is down for Wednesday in Tipp town at 1.30pm. Flannans not as strong as last year but still a good, good side back-boned by 4 or 5 of last year`s Clare minor side. Waterford Colleges very much an unknown quantity to me and probably a lot of other people who are following this years Harty cup. But I do believe they`ve also got a number of waterford minors. So, to me, on paper, it`s a hard one to call.
Opinions?

is the west waterford team a general mix of just the two dungarvan schools or is there more involved?.... flannans look the team to beat this year.

Yeah I think its the 2 Dungarvan schools, St Augustines and Dungarvan CBS. Balckwater used to be involved a few years ago but they now play Harty on their own. Flannans would be favourites but should be a decent game

dungarvan cbs and st augustines, which is a school also based in dungarvan make up their panel. Flannans have some lethal forwards.. have a big half forward line and 3 skillful lads in the full forward line but a lack of height in the backs might be a problem, are waterford colleges a big team?

Waterford Colleges are a good side they have quality forwards and backs and i feel that they could pip flannan`s as i feel flannans will under estimate them.
should be a close contest but provided that flannans realise how good a side Waterford Colleges are nd prepare well for the encounter i fell flannans should win.

Anyone have an idea of the line up Colaisti na nDeise might put out on Wednesday? I know there`s a few Currans involved and they`re all quality hurlers. Is Jamie Barron hurling with them?

dnt no there team but i seen them play earlier on in the group stages good side fast moveing forwards have harney i think his name is center forward nd would it be de burca?? full forward those too switch with each other regularly during the games they have 2 phasey corner forwards and a very acurate free taker aswell as 6 forwards and 2 midfielders who know where the posts are then there have a very solid wing back line fine big lad centre back and who commands it well and 2 very good wing backs under the puck out as for there goalie and full back line the game i saw them play they were`nt tested at all but they will be big time on wednesday.
and i have a sneaky feeling that flannans will find it tough to win and may end up loseing to a good waterford colleges side also a factor too is that i feel that flannans will under estimate the quality of this waterford colleges side. and could be costly for them.

Good man Paddy, havent seen them myself. But I know there`d be good hurlers involved with those 2 schools so hopefully they can do as well as you suggest. Best of luck to them anyway.

what happened that blackwater don`t hurl with them anymore. Jaysus, waterford colleges must have been some force when bcs were with them considering how good some sides blackwater have been producing the last few years. An explosion in numbers or what??

Backwater won the All-Ireland B a few years ago and enter the Harty Cup on their these days. They won the Dean Ryan this year so they will be a force in the Harty over the next couple of years. And they have Stephen Bennett, who scored something like 0-10 out of 0-11 in the Dean Ryan final this year. He`s a serious prospect. Dungarvan CBS look like the team to beat this year in the B. Waterford have got their act together at schools level the last 5/6 years and while it would be a pleasant surprise if the Harty Cup ended up back in the Deise this year, there`s plenty to be encouraged about at schools level in the county, east and west.

Barron left the CBS in Dungarvan to go to Blackwater. Kieran Power i think is the name of the centre back for the Waterford Colleges,a serious prospect for the future. I believe he doesn`t play any club underage hurling as he comes from Killrosanty who don`t have any hurling team only football. I believe this Harty side have about 5 of last year`s Waterford minor panel.

shane kelleher was nt injured and made no appearence for clare minors last year in championship id say your thinking of his club mate shane liddy who came on in semi and he was the one injured all year with his neck if my memory serves me correct.
