Brick played well at cf , Nailer , from play and frees did very well , Paul  ( ?  )  Prendergast corner back , along with Nagle and Sully fairly good too . Stopped counting score when it was around 3-15 to 0-10 . Waterford lined up something like :
Iggy
Prendergast Chris Ryan Ringo
Nagle Moran Sully
Twomey Molumphy
Shananhan Brick Seamus Prender
Nailer Walsh O`Halloran

UCC were very poor I thought and it was typical early in the year fare , but the scores came that bit easier for Waterford and the goals at midway through the 1st half left the result in no no doubt , even at that early stage .

Just back from the match very good first half Brick Walsh outstanding O Neill very good, Kearney done very well, Ryan full back got nothing much to do, likewise the keeper looked good on the few that were fired at him Dean Twoomey hit a lot of ball.
Second Half very dissapointing S. O Sullivan, J. Nagle Kearney all good O Neill outstanding from play and dead balls. Brick tired in the second half Shanahan did well enough
Moran need to be more urgent and the inside forward line need to stay on the edge of the square.
I disagree with the comment that the students were poor they had some lovely hurlers made some very nice effective passes and they got some really nice scores actually i taught they hurled well and they will be a forse in their own competition.
Our own Sullivan and Mahoney played well for them so those are my views on the game.
Man of the match in my book Martin O Neill.

After a decent run out in the first half the second half was a very poor affair from a waterford perspective. The whole team seemed to be going through the motions second half after the result had almost be secured by a solid first half display. Jamie Nagle did well all game. Sully was good in fits and starts as did Moran. Brick was excellent first half but disappeared in the second. Martrin O`Neill was good and showed plenty of willingness to get the ball and go for scores or set up a few. He was very good on frees as well.

We overdid the tactic of playing diagonal balls all game. Regardless of whether it was on or not we still played it. A few times it was just played on the blind to no one at all and gave the UCC backs soft ball to drive down into our defense.

Have Clare won a toss to go through or something.

Limerick vs Clare was a draw last night, and the replay is fixed for Tuesday night, but there are also rumours that no replay will take place and a toss will take place for the game instead

Not sure, I got a bit mixed up there. I was listening to WLR the other day and they were talking about playing Clare if Waterford beat UCC and the whole Davy Fitz factor. I just assumed that was the next fixture. A draw between Clare and Limerick might cause some fixture problems with the league starting soon.

Clare/Limerick replay on Tuesday. We`re out against the winners on Sunday next. Either a imerick or Waterford venue.

Was my first chance to get a look at how Waterford are shaping up under Michael Ryan and his team and must say was reasonably happy.

Great to see Brick fielding ball in the opposition half and running down their throats causing havoc, and Shane Walsh for me continues as a revelation at full forward. Great to see Brian O`Halloran get a run and would ask people to be patient with him. He is a young lad and has a lot of catching up to do and a lot of expectation to live up to I am sure that given time he will be a huge success but let`s give him a chance.

Brilliant to see Martin O.Neill rediscover the form we knew he was capable of, long may it last. All in all a real freshness and tempo about the team, they looked like they were a hurling team rather than the rugby team they had been under Davy. Wasn`t it noticable how few "rucks " there were yesterday. Molomphy seemed more intent on finding space and delivering ball rather than trying to charge through lads to win frees.

I realise the opposition in the first half in particular was light but you can only play what is put in front of you.

One disappointing thing for me personally was the amount of fouls committted by Sully, he still attacks the man more than the ball and gives away needless fouls. Needs to cut that out

Looking at UCC, was very impressed with Fives when he was brought in and Tom Currran and Brian O`Sullivan showed well at times. Mahoney was quite by his standards but still did alright and was it just me or has he really bulked up over Christmas.

Looking forward to the new season getting into full swing now, with slight cause for optimism but will not be getting carried away yet
