Its been well documented how John Allen won an All Ireland on the back of Donal O Grady`s work and an outstanding Cork team. But luck followed him this season by Limerick having to remain in division two.Imagine the outcry that would happen from the huge defeats we would ship if we were facing any division one team. Two wins from four games in division 2 shows where we are at and Martin Kiely spoke a lot of sense in his column this week about the lack of vision that prevails in Limerick.Does Allen really think our defence as it stands is good enough for the c.ship. What alternatives has he in mind when not if we get cruelly exposed when we meet better opposition? Luck wont be much of an ally then.

I thought that O`Grady would bring luck to us last year, and felt that he was the type of manager who could get us over the line in games we were losing by a point such as the Waterford game last year.
Being a lucky manager doesnt mean that you bring luck to Limerick!!!

Luck has nothing got to do with it when you have nothing won in 15 years

Luck has nothing to do with it. The draw last evening was a disgrace and to me only outlines the futility of the yellow card system that operates as it is now. For Condon to be sent off in that game was scandalous and was as bad as the decision to award a penalty.
Kielys article is mentioned here. What he says has a ring of truth to it but because of who it is saying it, the article will not be taken seriously.

What a pathetic thing to say. No wonder Limerick hurling is where it is when you have petty little grudges rolling along all the time

Not really, Larkin is spot on. Kiely should not be taken seriously following his attacks on certain players down the years.

Grudges? I`m sure you can point to my previous grudging remarks against Kiely, or anyone else for that matter.

John Allen is a good man, following on the back of another good man in Donal o Grady. We are still missing 4 or 5 players & will be there or there abouts on the big day. Nothing won in march!
Last years league 2 win wasnt worth the effort !

I`m not getting worked up by it but it is the same stuff you read all the time from Limerick people. Blaming newspapers, bad luck and now the ref. Its time they stopped blaming everything but themselves

Kiely is a digrace as a journalist and why the Limerick Leader keep him on I will never know. He re-writes the same drivel weekly and lost all respect from real GAA people when he sold his "Justin" interview to the Examiner.

He sells papers, pure and simple. That is all he has to do to get a full page devoted to himself every week. To be fair to him he usually backs up everything he says and doesn`t hide behind anyone or anything.

Kiely is yet another hurler on the ditch involved with the media in Limerick. Will we ever learn ?

Sorry Larkin but I cant agree with you. Kiely hid behind the Leader when he slated a Limerick hurler and took his charactor during the Justin days. Kiely took all the gossip from the delegates and hangers on at the county board and then went on a rampage of abuse about one player but did`nt have the guts to name him. I dont think many buy the leader because of his column, as all he is doing at this stage is re-hashing the same rubbish over and over.

he is a good manager, lucky managers dont win all irelands, he had the balls to take off corcoran n curran in 2005 against clare win they were 5 points down n they won by one, mainly because of his switches. give him time

Kiely`s carry-on during the Justin debacle was frankly scandalous. He was wetting himself with excitement with every titbit of bull\\ he was scribbling in the Leader and only delighted that Limerick hurling had such problems. He has zero credibility with any of the players and I wonder now has he fallen out with the CB - he seems to be taking potshots at them non-stop these days. He hadnt much to say about them when he was backing up Justin. Whilst I`d agree with his broader points these days about structures in Limerick and long-term plans, Kiely`s main agenda is to stir \\.

There are many more like him out there. People who only see the negative in everything and none of the positives. Last Saturday night being a prime example

I refuse to buy the leader while Kiely writes for them, I would imagine there are more like me out there.

Lads im reading some of these Limerick threads since Sat night and to be honest I can't get over how deluded some of the Limerick hurling public are. Lads calling for John Allens head already after they getting to the Div 1B league final is laughable.
Time for a reality check now lads, the truth is ye are probably at this moment in time the 8th best team in the country. The division 1A teams would go through ye for a shortcut and Clare are probably 2 if not 3 years ahead of ye in their development. John Allen is a proven All Ireland and Munster championship coach, he doesn't yet know the ins and outs of his Limerick players and probably still wont by the end of this season, Limerick have some quality hurlers as shown by last years U21's and Na Piarsiaghs Munster club title so ye have a future. Limerick lads should stop being so bitter and critical of their team and stop calling for the managers head everytime there is a bump on the road. By 2014 or 2015 ye will be back in the mix as a serious contender but in the meantime just suck it up and deal with the fact that ye are being rebuilt from what was a low base.
