Hope you put the money on , Blood.
I know it's only Kerry but a good start nonetheless for the Tipp minors tonight beating Kerry by 7 points down in Tralee.

A lot of head scratching down the kingdom tonight, both their U21s and Minors beaten within the week at home....their underage set up doesnt look good i have to say, but then when it comes to senior in fairness they still harvest them as they say.

Great result!
Pressure was really on the players and management after the rollercoaster year of 2011.
Bottle in abundance to be found in this panel.
Proud Tipp man tonight.

The minor format is a little strange , I think Tipp meet Cork now in a knockout match , where as the two losing teams tonight will have an easier route to the Munster final than the two winning teams tonight.

Sunday April 15 2012
Munster MFC first round
Tipperary 2-9
Kerry 0-8
Reigning All-Ireland champions Tipperary had little difficulty in dismissing the feeble Kerry challenge despite having to play the last 20 minutes of the game with 14 men at Austin Stack Park, Tralee, last night.
Tipperary, with eight of last year's team, dominated in most sectors and wing-back Bill Maher was superb with two points.
Tipperary had a penalty saved by Kerry 'keeper Stephen Cahalane in the opening half when his opposite number Evan Comerford was denied, but Kerry's 0-4 to 0-2 half-time lead was never going to be enough against the wind.
Tipp took over in the second period and two goals from corner-forward Colman Kennedy was enough to sink Kerry. Tipperary now advance to play Cork in the Munster semi-final, while Kerry travel to Waterford this Tuesday night in the losers round.
Scorers -- Tipperary: C Kennedy 2-2 (0-2f), T J Ryan (0-1f), B Maher 0-2 each, J Lonergan, I Fahey and P Quirke 0-1 each. Kerry: N Sheehy (fs), D O'Se (0-1f) 0-2 each, K Murphy (45), A Barry, S Moloney and E O'Conchuir 0-1 each
Referee: J Bermingham (Cork)

I hope results like this don't discourage teams like Kerry from plugging away at the game.

No draw should take place for losers groups until the preceding rounds have been completed. Kerry took a look at the draw, took a look at a Semi Final against Cork and probably said 'No Thanks'.

I know this is a WUM, but may as well have a pop off you.
Just as they decided to get knocked out of the championship having been 10 points up at half time to us last year no doubt.
You won't understand this coming from a county like Limerick but when a county has a strong tradition in a sport they tend not to be afraid of other counties, and they definitely don't throw games. This is the third time Tipp have beaten Kerry at underage in the last 3 years, 2 of them at home, I doubt there's any in the Kingdom happy with that.
I assume that your Senior hurlers are already planning on throwing the game against Tipp so? Maybe beat Laois and Antrim to make a soft quarter final and kid yourselves you're relevant?

I think its is crazy to suggest that young lads of 16 and 17 who are playing their first real major game for their county on a national stage are going to try anything less than 100%.

Well done to Tipp minors last night. I can assure the Tipp fella's on here that SLR does not speak for the majority of Limerick sporting people, showing himself up again with an idiotic statement like Kerry threw the game.

Well said BP. That Tipp team had a large cohort of last year's AI winning team playing and Kerry were always going to struggle to get a result. I would think a Cork Tipp munster final is on the cards again.
Kerry will have been more concerned with the u21 defeat in Tralee last Wednesday night after all the time and resources that were targeted at this grade. However their performances at minor level last year and again last night does not bode well for their u21s in next few years.

Tipp and Cork are meeting in the semi-final. I would be annoyed with the idiot who thought up the draw system but realise Cork will not beat this Tipp side..no team will. They are an exceptional team. SLR if any team should have thrown a game last night it was Cork. It would of got them to a Munster and all Ireland series. But thankfully that kind of thinking belongs to the twilight zone.

SLR this is an idiotic statement as this is an exceptional Tipp team and for my money will not be beaten in Munster and will in all probability retain their All Ireland Crown.
I mentioned in another post about the work done over the years by the Friends of Tipperary Football and it's now paying off in spades.
Pity our own "Football" board in Limerick wouldn't take a leaf out of their book

Cork are not a bad side, and while Tipperary may well beat them, Cork will not go down without a fight.
Meanwhile Kerry will be in the All Ireland Quarter finals and maybe more but one of Tipperary or Cork will be eliminated within a month.
The draw should not be predetermined. Play the first rounds, then draw for the losers group, and then make the semi final draw when the losers group draw has produced the fourth semi finalist.

SLR is wrong to say that Kerry threw it (1. how do you get a minor team to blow a match? 2. Their keeper saved a penalty) but he is right to say that the draw should take place after the first round matches have been completed. The only way you could throw the match is pick a few weaker players and then subsequently 'unearth' a few stars for the next round.

Correct, the idea that any county, let alone County with tradition like Kerry would throw a game is an insult! The idea that the GAA didn't spot cynics like SLR is another reason the draw was flawed. At least he could have acknowledged the Tipp victory, no wonder he gets abuse from his own people, always having an agenda does that! Called attention seeking also!

Suprised at SLR's comment tbh.
In the current climate of certain Counties not excelling in both codes or not lining out at all, i would of thought all neutrals would be happy to see Tipperary reaping the rewards of hard work in Football.
Kerry don't do half arsed, they don't do anything bar 100% in Football. Tipperary's minors should be applauded for having the bottle to go to Kerry and win, simple.

ye are been harsh on SLR , he made a very valid point , kerry are not great minor team but are better than they showed the last night for sure! by losing they now get extra games (which they will win) are certs to get to munster final(and all q/f) so at least 5 games for them to improve , meanwhile either tipp or cork will be gone after next game ! in effect by losing kerry get 5 more games , by winning they would have had 1 more game a defeat to cork...do the maths !
