I see a thread on the other game but not on this one.

Really looking forward to it , if it is near as god as the last one then it will be well worth the admission money on its own.

I think it is ideal timimg to have this game again for both teams , I know Tipp like a lot of teams went away(to Cork actually, Fota Island) for extensive training together for a week over the Easter, I assume Cork done something likewise.

It will be interesting to see how/if both teams have improved over the last few weeks.

Tipp have a few injury worries from the last day with Paul Curran definitively and Donagh Maher probably missing from the last day , along with long term absentees Bonner Maher and Paddy Stapleton , but Seamus Callinan is back for the last few weeks and Eoin Kelly is fully over his hamstring injury.

If the weather holds up and is anything like last Sunday we should get a big crowd in Thurles , unfortunately though the weather is not looking promising at the moment.

Agree Blanco, the season is starting to heat up nicely.
From a Tipp perspective the injuries are coming at the wrong time but i suppose better now than in the lead up to the Limerick game. It will be interesting to see the shape of the team if Donagh Maher is out as well, will Conor O'Brien slot in or will John O'Keeffe be deployed in the corner.
Conor O'Mahony would be an option full back alright but will management want to move him from the centre back position? Paudie Maher can slot in anywhere across the back 6 to be fair and maybe they will revert him to number 3.
Its hard to see Callinan starting but hopefully he features at some stage as his presence has being missed. Another question is whether management will stick with Buggy at full forward or will Eoin Kelly get the start off the back of his recent impressive club run for Mullinahone?
All in all Cork will feel they have a minor advantage taking into account their performance the last day against a stronger Tipp team. Home advantage for Tipp really doesn't count here as Semple Stadium is a home from home for Cork.
Is there any word from the Cork camp yet on team selection or shape?

Here's hoping the weather improves and the crowds flock to Tom Semples field for what could be a cracker.
Here's hoping.

I would be 99% sure Cork will put the same team out but apparently Brian Murphy and Cathal Naughton are doubtful. Niall McCarthy and Luke O'Farrell are now back fit.

Tipp look much the stronger esp in the probable subs bench so i'd fancy them by about 6 points.
From our point of view, another wholehearted championship performance is crucial to maintain that bit of momentum for the team rebuilding process.Whilst the win would be terrific,we've a lot more improving to do to become serious contenders and there's likely to be a few trimmings on that journey.

Spot on William. We all know down here that we are not all Ireland material yet and expect a few beatings. The main thing is we dont get some serious trimmings, keep on improving and show some spirit. We cant ask anymore from the team and management at the moment.

The last game was a cracker, even if it did the lack a bit in the type of hits and intensity of the championship it more than made up for it with speed, skill and great scores. I think Cork's resistance in that game will give them great confidence as well.

Tipp are very good though, and I think the Cork backs will struggle to hold their movement, but if they can break even there I think they'll have the match. Midfield really is a toss of a coin on current form, but Tipp have the experience in this area and that might stand to them.

I fancy the Cork forwards to have a good day on account of Tipp's missing men in defense. Donagh Maher has had a very good league to date and will be badly missed if he's out (not sure yet), while I heard Curran is almost certainly out (big loss, not only in skill but leadership as well). I don't think Tipp have the greatest quality of cover for the defense and that's why I fancy the Cork forwards will do good on Sunday, and why I fancy Cork to scrape through, only just though.

P.S. While I would be wary of however comes out on top in this one, I have to admit I would love to see a Kilkenny/Cork league final. We've had 4 Kilkenny/Tipp finals in the previous three seasons, great games all, but it would be nice to have a different team to play against in a final, and a good Cork side might really hype and spice things up nicely for the championship, especially if Cork were to prevail against Tipp or Kilkenny in a big, must-win game.

Was Donagh Maher on Patrick Horgan in the last game? He scored a fright off him.

would sooner give KK a miss. After beating them in the league we might be better off keeping away from them for a few months..no better crowd to burst a bubble

I did not realise Kilkenny were in the league final.

I can tell ye one thing lads and ill eat my hat if Cork suffer any trimmings like we did under DW ala Kilkenny gave. Under JBM Cork will be a million miles from that crap.

Have you deliberately forgotten that Cork contested the League Final in 2010 with DW at the helm. Perhaps if he had had similar new young talent available to him like JBM has now, he may have been able to get rid of the under performing shower that he was saddled with. If Cork do win on Sunday they will have achieved nothing more than they did back in 2010, yet! However, JBM is fortunate to have a panel willing to burst a gut for him and for Cork hurling.

HF , don't get me started on the DW campaign please!!!!A thoroughly thoroughly decent gentleman but an absolutely atrocious coach for a multitude of reasons.I'll give you just one example : most cork fans were clamouring since Gerald Mac about changing freetakers i.e. ben and gardiner as neither hit the 90% success rate of shefflin, kelly, canning etc. This was blithely ignored and sure enough we misesed 5 frees in the drawn Munster Final v Waterford which cost us the title. Also , dropped league points in most of the 2011 campaign through missed frees (Cork drew 3 matches and lost 2 matches by a point : missed frees in all games) .If mgmt can even get the frees right.......
He also picked an on/off sub as captain in 2010 (Fraggy Murphy)who ultimately couldn't make the team
.There's plenty of other examples but seriously i won't bore you.

I still expect some 8 - 10 point beatings off KK (poss tipp) in the white-hot free-for-all skin-and-hair intensity of championship hurling. Our lads aren't used to anything like that and unfortunately will prob have to experience some system shocks before becoming acclimatised to it.Future is def bright and we are coming but certainly not this year.

Nor did I say we were, I merely said I would love to see a Kilkenny/Cork final.

But its fair all the same to assume we most likely will be going on current form and panel strength.

Willies answer to you will surfice for me here. DW like he said is a gentlemen but his regime was awful, really was, no aim, plan, focus, making awful errors on the line..look its well documentated at this stage. I dont need to spell it out for you. JBM so far so good and we will take it from there.

Go way ya chancer Harry trying to make Cork the favourites. There was very little physicality in the last game so you can't take that game into account. Cork have a good solid team at the moment but we have come from such a low base that we have no strength in depth. With the few injuries Tipp have ye will still be able to name a formiddable team. Im going to go with Cork to keep pace with Tipp for the whole game but ultimately come up short by less then 3 points.

There is a bit of a buzz down here about the game though, I reckon there could be a more then decent crowd travel from Cork to the game. Hope the weather holds.

Is there a reason Lehane has been left off the first 15?

Naughton will be a loss , he had good 2nd half the last day.

Any sign of a Tipp team?
