So what are everyone's thoughts on the replay of what was a very entertaining game last weekend between two very evenly matched sides? I'm obviously hopeful that Galway can do the business this weekend and won't be too downhearted at not closing it out last Sunday.
The Galway team will line out as follows:
1. Fergal Flannery
2. Kevin Hynes
3. David Collins
4. Johnny Coen
5. Niall Donoghue
6. Fergal Moore
7. Tony Og Regan
8. David Burke
9. Iarlath Tannian
10. Andy Smith
11. Niall Burke
12. Cyril Donnellan
13. Damien Hayes
14. Joe Canning
15. Davy Glennon
I must say I like the look of that team a lot more than last week's one although I expect Tony Og and Fergal Moore to switch from the start as both played a lot better last week when they were switched. Joe will probably start at 14 but he'll switch regularily with Burke. Smyth and Donnellan will work like dogs on the wings and hopefully Tan can repeat his heroics of last week.
Johnny Coen should be fine at corner back, he played well last week (albeit at wing back) he's very quick and he won an All Ireland minor title playing in that position. Hynes had a fine game last week and I expect him to do the same on Saturday.

Hoping we can play a bit more hurling this time around. I'd be inclined to tell Peter Kelly to follow Joe around the field, thought Joe only came to live when he moved off Kelly last time.

Is this the official team or just what is expected to play?
I'm not a Galway man but I always enjoy watching them play, I can't understand Collins in full back, from what I have seen of him he is tailor made for a wing back slot.

Seemingly so, it was announced on the radio this morning anyways. Don't expect them to start that way though.

I'm the same, apart from Waterford at their livewire best Galway have always been my second favourite team.
That team looks well balanced, presuming Tony Óg goes centre back. Might have finally found a home for Tannian at midfield, I'd rate him pretty highly would be good to see him go well there. In almost any other county he'd prob be full forward but of course there's the small matter of Joe in the way there. Half forward line looks a good mix too. Can't understand Kavanagh not being full back, seems crazy stuff to me to leave him out. And Farragher even as an impact sub would be an addition surely. Has Healy gotten any game time or likely to appear?

Will there be as much needle in the match between the players as their has been on here between the supporters all week? Should be a cracking game and nearly sorry now Waterford weren't in the playoff to get the extra games they badly need under their belt-obviously only if they won :)

I doubt it. If there is needle between supporters it is only between a few. I have great time for Dublin and their hurling supporters. If we dont win Leinster I hope Dublin do. Their hurling supporters are generally a far nicer type of crowd than their football supporters who tend to have a gurrier element among them. You dont find that element following the hurlers yet in my experience anyway.

Sure if we're such bluffers and they're so good then why do you even need to wish them luck? Surely they wont need it and they'll beat us by about 20 points like they did last week. Oh wait....

Ye came in to munster in the 50's and ran out of it after winning 1 game and ye'll do the same in Leinster.time Galway left the dummy in the pram and faced facts, stick to minor and u 21 and leave senior to proper teams.would Galway have won all Ireland's in '87 and '88 if they were in munster or leinster, hardly cause they would be moaning about wanting to be back in connaught.bluffers is right.

any chance we could have a thread specially for the 4 or 5 Galway/ Dublin people involved to abuse each other, and we could stick more or less to the hurling on this one? these occasional mentions of the game are interfering with my enjoyment of the squabbling

I don't think that twice fella is a dub.
McCrabbe is appealing his one match ban, apparently armed with video evidence.
Daly has taken to naming his team very late in the week if at all, will be interesting to see how we line out in the absence of o'dwyer. Dotsy could be back in contention.

6. Joseph Boland

12. Liam Rushe
13. Danny Sutcliffe
14. Ross O’Carroll

Twiceinoneyear is from Clare (where else?) as per another thread. He is one of those Clare "bluffers" who only thinks hurling was invented in 1995 as he was probably too young to remember 1914 or the start of the First World War! I notice he didn't mention all the "GREAT" Clare football teams down through the years - I suppose it's difficult when they are continuously stuck in division 4!

Quilty starting at midfield is a slight surprise, although he did very well when he came on last day. Doubt we'll line out like that, sutclife will surely play in the half forward line with Tracy in the corner.

Sam, what's your opinion of the half back line, and in particular the wing backs? I'm a great fan of Boland, but he is struggling to find a bit of consistency, however I think he will. Do you think Carton and Durkin are going to cut it in these positions at inter-county level?

Looks like some patient in a nursing home got access to a computer last night! They say when you reach a certain age you can go back to acting like a baby throwing the dummy out of the pram! Nurse , will you lock away the whiskey on him for f sake!
Looking forward to the match. The Dublin team looks a strong one. I expect it will be another close game.
Not looking forward to going to the Portlaoise ground though since half of it is out of bounds. I wont be at the football match so I can see the stand being nearly full by the time most of the Galway fans arrive , which means we'll be consigned to the terraces. Not at all satisfactory. They should have moved both matches to Tullamore imo.

The one big worry for me re this Galway team is the full back line - i thought they were badly exposed the last 2 games. They could have conceded more than 2 goals the last day and once thats the case on a regular basis then you'll always struggle to win games!

Cityoftrbes, yea, concerns about that hb line, joey is good when on form but opposition chf seems to be scoring a lot against us. Carton has the fight for it, his hurling let him down at times last week. Durkin is a skilful player but have doubts about him against a big man

Would have thought Dublin's problem area would be midfield sam?
Just looking at them this year they have a well drilled back line but lose an amount of possession in the middle of the park?

I think it's a case of robbing Peter to pay Paul where the half back and midfield are concerned. McAffrey doesn't seem to be up to it in midfield and is more suited to half back but is needed midfield at the moment. Peter Kelly is a fantastic wing back but is needed at full back right now. Until the injuries abate for Dublin it's hard for them to know for sure who will be best suited to where.
A half back line of Kelly, Brady and Boland would be ideal, but Kelly is most likely to be used at Full Back and there's no telling where Brady will be used. I can see Rushe being used at midfield if Dublin can get into the habit of scoring goals without needing him in the ff line. What are the dubs fans thoughts on their best championship team when (please god) the injuries have abated?
