Not good news for a man of his age at all, ive encountered a similar story within the family in the past week but ages are way apart.

The media came out with more stories over the weekend that were unwarranted really and can't have helped him.

GET WELL SOON DJ, your a legend to us all.

Thoughts and prayers he makes a full recovery. An absolute idol of mine, wizard of a hurler and a gent. I still have the stick he gave me after a Railway Cup game in Belfast in 1993. Get well soon Dodger

Firstly, I wish the great man a speedy recovery.

Secondly, is it possible for you to cite a source for this? Has it been reported in the media?

Hurling star suffers suspected heart attack

DJ Carey is in a stable condition in hospital

Former Kilkenny hurling All Star DJ Carey has been taken to hospital after suffering a suspected heart attack.

Gardai say he collapsed in a public office in Kilkenny city this afternoon and was admitted to the local St Luke's hospital.

His condition is described as stable.

Widely acknowledged as one of the greatest hurlers ever to play the game, 41-year-old Carey enjoyed a glittering career with the Cats, winning five All-Ireland titles and nine All Star awards.

Carey retired from inter-county hurling in 2006, but continued to play for club side Young Irelands of Gowran.

Terrible news, he isn't a likely one (age and build) you'd pick out of a crowd for it to happen to. Get well soon D.J.!! A real life legend!

No probs. I was just remembering about all those 'respected journalists' who reported - God between us and all harm - that another 'great', Ger Loughnane, had 'died'.

As we seen sadly recently with the young Galway chap in London and the Bolton player, it can happen to anyone at any time without warning.

DJ like a lot of business people around the country has no doubt been under a lot of financial strain and worries recently in his private life , and he also has the misfortune to see it played out in the newspapers for everyone to see.

Hope for his sake and that of his young kids he can make a full recovery and bounce back again.

Latest news from RTE tonight is good , he is reportedly doing well and in relatively good form in the cardiac recovery unit in St Lukes.

He was in a Garda station just filling out routine forms this morning when it happened, he was lucky to get medical attention straight away and hopefully now will make a full recovery.
