I was thinking Murroe Boher myself but Ahane seem to have a voodoo sign over all the clubs from east limerick.

Ollie Moran has an injury that will keep him out for the year and as far as I know he has decided to retire.
Not sure about Niall Morans hernia, but if both Morans are missing Ahane will find it difficult.

Come on - they only play that fixture if it suits Kilmallock!
Obviously this year it doesn't.
Alright I won't go on about Kilmallock always playing in Bruff seeing as this time it's Knockainey they are playing.
Anyway:
Adare
Emmets
Doon
Patrickswell
Kilmallock
Murroe/Boher
Croom
Na Piarsaigh

Not many mouthwatering ties there. Way too many teams in the Limerick senior hurling championship just making up the numbers.

Yesthe patrickswell and murroe games look like the only ones that might offer some bit of entertainment. Only 12 senior hurling teams in Kilkenny and 16 in Limerick. Says it all really. Realistically you have only 5 or 6 teams in Limerick that might have a chance of winning county. The rest are glorified intermediate teams who get their kicks out of saying 'we are a senior hurling club'!

The real glamour tie of round one is undoubtedly the huge West-Limerick derby between Granagh/Ballingarry and Adare. Should be a massive crowd in NCW for that one.

Pretty much so yes. Well based on the percentage of championship matches they play in Bruff, they must!

Totally agree, in my opinion Limerick seniors hurlers punch above their weight considering the poor standard of club hurling in the county.

Remember a Limerick team did win the Munster senior club championship last year.
But I agree there are probably only 12 genuine senior hurling clubs in Limerick.

8 and the 4 divisional teams would be my preferred option. in two groups of 6. But it would have a number of problems with the south being probably too good. And fixture problems. 8 senior teams in one group with the top two going into the final would be one option but you would lose out on semi finals, which generally tend to be pretty good games.
12 teams in two groups of 6. Senior
12 teams premier intermediate
12 teams intermediate.
Then an all county junior championship.
But I won't hold my breath.

Yes having all the championships in 2 groups of 6 would cut out alot of the fixture chaos and the unbalanced divisional championships that we have at the moment. Not much chance of it happening as long as the clubs keep showing as much apathy for change as they always have done. Limerick GAA is dying and people dont seem to care. The amount of teams amalgamating at underage is shameful.

What counties - bar Kilkenny - have "a good county championship"?
I know lads in Cork, Clare, Tipp, Wexford, Offaly etc who all say that the standard of their club championship is poor too.
This line that "it's a poor club championship in Limerick" is trotted out every single year, no matter what the structure of the competition is. Limerick clubs won both the Munster senior and intermediate titles last year, not saying that it means everything is rosy but people go overboard in criticising it every year without fail.

In fairness you have to look at available venues with facilities. Bruff have a stand and a championship standard hurling pitch. The County Board have to make a few quid and in poor and sometimes random weather conditions, you need a stand to maximise the attendance. The recent Under 21 semi finals being a case in point.
Name another pitch with a stand closer to the city where you could play Kilmallock games outside of the Gaelic Grounds where (a) the crowd wont travel, and (b) the place feels empty.
