He stands like a giant oak tree, eyes fixed on the ball, when without warning he gets a spasm in his hamstring which causes his knee to jerk upwards.
The cunning Sanchez having spotted what was about to happen,
reverses into him making it look like a foul, and the ref sends the big hearted Englishman to the line.
But the thin red line of heroes, having seen their much loved CO being sneakily felled in battle, completely rout Johnny Foreigner and emerge triumphant.
And centuries from now, people will queue at Stamford Bridge to gaze in awe at the glass case which contains the Holy relic preserved therein ... General John Terry's knee!

Don't like the guy but the dramatics from Sanchez would make you puke. Of course he is going to milk it, but it shows the nature of the sport these days. For contrast a GAA corner forward would be very happy if that's all he got before the ball was thrown in, if the GAA started handing out red cards for off the ball digs it would be 5 a side very quickly.
Barcelona are a lovely team to watch but their diving and general simulation takes away from them a bit. There was absolutely no contact for the Braca penalty, Fabregas saw Drogba sliding in and just threw himself into the air. At least in the premiership questionable penalty calls generally there is some contact. Although I enjoy watching them as much as anyone I am happy to see them sent on their way by a brave performance.

There was a lot more contact on Fabregas last night than there was on Ashley Young for either of the two penalties he won recently. Drogba slid in and made no contact with the ball. It was a certain penalty in my opinion.
Also, I don't think there were any dramatics from Sanchez in that particular incident. He was unexpectedly kicked from behind and knocked off his feet. He didn't roll around on the ground, he simply raised his hand towards the linesman as if to say "Did you see that"?

There was no contact with Fabregas. Drogba made no contact with the ball or the player, how can it be a penalty? Not sure what that incident has to do with Ashley Young or any other penalty decision, in those two cases both penalties were very soft but there was contact.
Watch the Sanchez incident again. He got a knee into the back of his thigh and dropped like he was shot. Pure stupid from Terry if he expected it not to be seen but Sanchez limping around afterwards clutching the back of his leg was just pathetic.
The most stupid thing about the Terry incident is assuming there was some previous between them Terry would have had numerous opportunities to get at him proper in general play. If Terry went through him in a tackle and put some genuine hurt on him he would have likely got a yellow card. Pure stupidity. For example, Lampart's foul in the second half on Fabregas which was clearly retaliation for a prior incident was a two footed scything tackle that could have seen red.

No Tinmar your wrong there. There was more contact in Ashley Youngs penalties than Fabregas'last night although Young's dives were worse. Still though it was awful the way Fabregas went down.
Regarding the Terry sending off yes it was a red card in soccer terms. In this happened in GAA firstly, I dont think the player would get booked, secondly, the player who got hit wouldnt go down like that.. and thirdly if he did fall down he would be picked up the jersey and told to cop the ---- on. I would love to see the likes of Young, Fabregas and Sanchez play one half an hour of GAA. I tell you they would be badly bruised by the time they got off the field of play.

Sanchez was a disgrace for going down like that. You would never see someone of his size go down like that on a GAA field. I mean Davy Fitz is about the same size and no way would he hit the ground if getting a push like that. Oh actually.......

At least you could say Sanchez got a knee in the back which if your not expecting it is not particularly nice ...compare hat with the likes of Drogba( premiership player) who goes down without any touch or contact.

Lampard has previous - he did Xabi Alonso at Anfield in January 2005 or 2006 and broke his leg...Thats still not forgotten by Alonso or most liverpool fans at the time - it was an appalling tackle. Hes not as bad as terry not gets the bad press but hes prone to these type of tackles.

You're the one who brought PL penalties into your argument. Ashley Young's penalty against QPR was a joke. The one against Villa, there was contact but it was initiated by him. If Drogba didn't make contact, it was only because Fabregas tried to avoid his tackle. "Contact" is not the deciding factor beacuse it is a pretty meaningless concept.

I think I've heard it all now, some lad from Barcelona being blamed for the predicament that that odious toerag finds himself in, what next, maybe the Barcelona lad should be suspended (probably by the goolies) for 'simulation' (what a ridiculous soccer word). Even more amusing is Irish people sympathising with or supporting Chelsea (or anything to do with them), probably the most violently anti-Irish (now that the Gers are virtually gone) club in the world with their combat 18 and headhunter knuckledraggers.

(After the Barcelona game) 'I'm not that type of player to intentionally hurt anyone. I've raised my knee, which I maybe shouldn't have done in hindsight. But hopefully people who know me as a person, as a player... I'm not that type of player.

well mores the pity that messi didn't convert the said penalty last night. Wouldn't that have been karma for Drogba to be penalised for a pen that wasn't and Chelsea to go out of the CL, after all Drogba's diving over the years. it would have been the perfect end to the tramps career in epl. Cant believe Messi missed it.
Drogba and Jens Lehmann the arsenal keeper both hitting the ground in agony after they gently bumped off each other should be voted the single funniest moment in epl history. Two girls. Anyone defending Drogba should check that moment out.

I doubt there's two many with sympathy for Terry, even Chelsea supporters will find itn hard to do so.
If Chelsea had gone out to a late goal, or a goal had came direct from the free-kick which saw him sent off, he'd have deserved a kick rather than a knee in the a*se from his teammates afterwards

Drogba dives all over the place, but the great ambassadors of the game, Barca are more than capable of doing likewise.
Busquets and Dani Alves being 2 that spring to mind. And any time a Barca player is fouled, there's a swarm of them descending on the ref looking for cards etc.

Big problem in soccer is that it is almost impossible to get a free when you are fouled if you don't go down.
Sanchez was right to take a dive, because Terry wouldn't have been sent off if he stayed on his feet. Whether Sanchez went down or not it should have been a red card. But the ref would only have given a red card if Sanchez went down.
