Lar Corbett going into the music business instead of putting the fear of god into the back-line of every county he plays against!

Someone should have a word with Lar. Be a pity to be looking back in the years ahead regretting not playing another year or two of inter county hurling.

He can bring third rate musical acts to his bar for the next forty years.

Maybe he might like to be treated with a bit of respect by management and certain tipp fans for putting in the huge effort and guts over the last ten years!

If he was a spoiled soccer player he would be earning 100K plus per week not trying to scratch a living from a pub. But then the other option open to Lar would be to take another trip to Australia, he enjoyed the first trip I heard.

You'd swear he was the only inter county player to ever have a job or run a business the way he's banging on about "business commitments".

I would agree but he has made his decision now anyway.

Also we don't know the business situation he is in at the moment, he may need these sidelines to put bread on the table , as someone pointed out the other day that Lar could very easily be in a worse financial situation now than he was when he was on the dole , most pubs around the country are not making any money these days , and as Lar became self employed he he would now not be entitled to any assistance or dole again for a few years, so its either starve or come up with new sidelines or ideas.

Fair enough if that's the case. Didn't realise he had been badly treated by Tipp management. He has said on more than one occasion that there is no hidden agenda - that he simply wanted to work at his business.

Are rest of the squad happy with management? If yes, then perhaps the problem is in Lar's own head.
If not, have players asked for talks with management with a view to clearing up any grievances or misnderstandings?

I wouldn't castigate him for that - see Blanco's post above. Some people can take on a business venture and are naturally suited to it, taking the daily headaches and problems that come with it in their stride.
Others with a different personality, may worry and fret over every little detail and feel swamped by the responsibility.

However, as per previous post, maybe someone should tell Lar that he is young, has time to make mistakes and learn from them and at same time, balance this with opportunity and privilege to play hurling at its highest standard for another year or two.

He can always turn his hand to another business venture. Father time is less kind to hurling talent.

Ah sure, leave him off, best of luck to him anyways with the pub.

Obviously I would love to see him back hurling but he seems to have given up on the game. Pity, but we'll all move on nonetheless, we should let him do the same.

Best of luck to him - gent of a man. He has served the game well. Would love to see him play a few more years but as the saying goes - he owes nothing to the game.

Shouldn't he be allowed to do what he wants without people telling to go back hurling every 5 minutes? It's not like he had a short career. He was hurling with Tipp for 10 years. He has his All-ireland medals. If he wants to do something else now then fair play to the man.

shows you much he is a central cog to the Tipp team with eveyone asking him back! Without him all the pressure falls on Noel Mc Grath and Eoin Kelly and they are not exactly on fire at the minute! And this business committments thing is a load of bollocks as well! He was on the Late Late Show in late 2010 complaining about not working and yet we are expected to believe, not even 18 months later that he is too busy to play inter county hurling!! Anyone around Tipp knows the real reason for his departure and it is most certainly not business but one of the management team! He owes no-one anything though, a fine hurler and good luck to him with his time off! Tipp will be a different animal when they come down to the Páirc ( assuming they beat Limerick) but my god he is one huge loss to them!

Can somebody explain why he didn't play for his club in the first round of the championship a couple of weeks ago? Lar is trying to use the pub as an excuse for not hurling with Tipp but everyone knows that is a load of bull.

I can't confirm this but if what i hear is correct, he hasn't being training with Sars yet this year.

I would say he has enough of hurling full stop. The amount of is**te that was spoken around Tipp the week after the All Ireland was enough to be put any lad off it. Plus he didn't look interested for the club in the County semi either. His head was not in it imo, he was sent off the same day which was unusual for Lar.

I would think he has had enough of it and that's it.
Plus the longer this speculation continues the better the publicity for his pub and promotions business.

For me, he is gone. We move on.

I wish him the best in whatever he does, he owes the Blue & Gold fcuk all imo.

The most pressing question has not yet been dealt with: is he Lar or Larry???? Could Declan Ryan be calling him the wrong name???

As a long standing supporter of Tipperary I believe that the time is well nigh when matters pertaining to the athmosphere within the Tipperay camp are resolved. To this end I put the following questions to the Tipperary Co.Board and to the Tipperary management team:(1)Is it true that Lar Corbett will return to the Tipp panel if Tommy Dunne departs the management team? (2)Have Nicky English + Liam Sheedy recently acted as facilitators between the panel and Tommy Dunne and that Tommy Dunne is reluctant to depart?(3)Is it true that Tommy has lost the support of the majority of the panel?(4)Why are journalists so reluctant to delve in to this matter particularly when the Co.Board is doing its damnedest to keep the matter under wraps thus ensuring that the matter drags on?

Thank you sir - your post cuts to the chase and avoids all the -------------footing around the issue that has left most people, certainly outside Tipp itself perplexed.

Joes toes, you should be ashamed of yourself. That man has put his body on th eline for tipp for a decade and provided all hurling fans with some of the greatest hurling memories. He needs to putdinner on the table and however much I would love to see him lined out again in the summer, I have nothing but respect and admiration for him and and for everything he has done. Your comment is nasty, unfair and not true. You wouldn't wipe his boots on a pitch.

Mandarin , has Tommy Dunne taken a coaching role for Thurles Sarsfields as well?

Because Lar has not been seen in their training field either since his decision to step back from Hurling, surely Tommy can't be blamed for this.

It looks like Lar just does not want to hurl anymore full stop.
