Good team, best of luck to them.
I like our full forwards line a lot, now just to get enough ball into them.
Carey is a solid full back and O'Brien is equally capable beside him.
The two Kilmaley lads will do well in the half back line and they've had plenty of tough U21 hurling so far this year.
Shanahan is a huge loss; he could fit in centre back and push Cleary to midfield, or equally at centre forward and push Liddy on to the wing.
Maybe Mark McGuane and Niall Deasy to make an impact yet.

I see the other thread on the match has been taken down.
The team that goes out could probably be the best available. We have to remember that the leaving cert is only one month away and maybe parents have decided to not make certain lads available. Whatever happens tomorrow night we do have a second chance and I wish the lads the very best.

IF Clare were to loose they would play the winners of who ever looses between Tipp v Kerry and Cork v Limerick. That is down for the 10th. of May.

am wondering how waterford could be such overwhelming favourites for this ?, preperations were constantly being dogged by an age old problem of west v east, certain lads deserving of a shot not getting a look in , consistant non co operation of minor selectors to the detriment of the harty cup winning side, not a very happy camp, all allied to a very surprise selection of the team to play tonight, with guys missing that were bankers only a week ago, with two very important injuries, can't see it, then again nothing like a seige mentality in a tight pitch in ennis to overwhelm the odds.

Has to be a serious risk of burnout for Conor Cleary, football & hurling for Flannans, minor & u21 hurling for Kilmaley (and all the games that has entailed so far this year), presumably all grades of football for Miltown (pity his father didn't come south as opposed to his mother going north), minor hurling and football for Clare, all the training and travelling involved with all those teams, doing his leaving cert, and presumably heading for a sporting college in the autumn, a serious call on any young man.

a tight pitch omg...if i hear this again....Cusack Park Ennis is 145m long by 90m wide...it is longer and wider than Croke Park...it is one of 5 pitches that have the same size as the biggest in the country for inter county games...Cusack Park Ennis, O' Connor Park, Semple Stadium, Casement Park and Wexford Park....

The majority would go to Lissycasey but alot from the Connolly side of Kilmaley would play for Miltown. Eg. Aidan McGuane wing back tonight, from Connolly in Kilmaley but plays football for Miltown. Its confusing down these parts, about half of the Lissycasey hurling contingent play for Kilmaley and the other half play for Ballyea.

Some amount of teams Cleary is involved in.
Clare have had a lot of dual players recently ... lads like Martin O Leary and Cleary from the West, Liam Markham and Cathal McInerney over East.

Havnt seen Clearys name on the Miltown senior team, they must be leaving him for the league and rightly so

As regards ball winners, there a definitly players among the team who can win fair share of ball...morey dominated in the air in the 21s in the air, Corry and Taylor will certainly break ball through and use pace to run onto it and inside forward line a able to win fair share of ball...Clare have to move on from the notion that they need awkward mul-i-kers are good ball winners...

So your saying Niall Deasy is an awkward muliker. Or Peter Duggan who won an amount of ball for us last year

No not at all of course there skilful hurlers but because there big, strong fellas and of course natural ball winners. Clare tonight don't have a huge physical presence which is why the decision not to start two fellas was questioned. No disrespect intended

In general, we've had a fierce amount of small center forwards in Clare of late ... for me, it has to be a ballwinner that can score. It's not like we don't have options (Daire Keane, Peter Duggan, John Conlon).
