Just announced in the last couple of hours. I don't know a huge amount about him to be honest but he comes with a pretty decent CV and I think a southern hemisphere coach is no bad thing. I think it came too early for Foley and he is staying on as forwards coach. Very important appointment for Munster as they are at a bit of a crossroads so I hope he's the right choice.

Would this be seen as a surprise? not that I was following it very closely but I had not heard his name mentioned when the press were speculating on who would get the job.
He is currently over the NZ U20 team and has a very impressive record as a club coach in NZ so I believe.
He will have his work cut out to get Munster back on anything approaching an even footing with the likes of Leinster.

No it was known he was interviewed alright-the final shortlist was himself, Tana Umaga and Anthony Foley. I thought he was the best of the 3 to be honest but just by his CV as I didn't know much about him. In fairness, him or anybody else for that matter can only work with the players that are there, but he seems to have a good track record of developing young players which is what Munster need at the moment with the likes of O'Mahony, Dave O'Callaghan, Billy Holland, Murray, Sherry, O'Dea, etc

He needs to bring in some new quality players to be able to get us back on par with Leinster. Squad just aint at the standard

just wait for all the bad puns on his name - the headline writers in the West Brit tabloids must be delighted.

Ya he's 26 or so but I meant more in bringing younger inexperienced lads on.

Sad news-probably my favourite all time rugby player and an absolute gent to go with that. He was such an exciting player with ball in hand and was badly missed by Munster this year. Tbh Blanco there's not too many of the older players left. ROG, O'Connell and Howlett(hopefully) will start next year but there won't be too many if any over 30 starting next year outside of the props.
