I went looking at a car today in Kildare. The guy imports English cars and had a couple of nice ones. Anyways I brought an 09 car for a test drive and agreed a price with the salesman. He showed me the log book and all that in the car and the documentation to show date of first registration etc. (March 09) I didnt pay huge attention to the service history and as it all seemed fine. Anyways when I got home i checked the guys website and the 09 car I went to look at had a sensor/phone thing on the roof and this one didnt but I took the guy at face value that this was a 09 car. I also noticed that he had an 08 car on his website in the same colour/model that I was driving without a rain/phone thing on the roof. Anyways to make a long story short he is getting Irish plates and reigistering it and all that next week. It wouldn't be possible for him to register it as an 09 car if it is actually the 08?

Shouldn't be able to do that but why don't you run a reg check for peace of mind. I wouldn't buy an english car without running one.

I've texted him for the current reg and he hasn't replied. My fear is that he was showing me the 09 paperwork for the 08 car if you get me. But when he goes for Irish plates he'll have to come unstuck. However everything he did show me seemed above board so I am possibly over reacting.

He answered and said he was out of the shop and would get back to me in an hour with the number plates. Ya I've given a deposit.

Kinda pointless looking for help if you had a deposit paid.

Well wear with it.
