The four teams contesting the football league semi finals only brought 11,000 to Croke Park. 15,000 went to Thurles for what was an attractive looking double header and the eight teams that made up football finals weekend could only muster 29,000 between them...

I honestly think the main reason for the miserable crowds, is the recession.Disposable income has dried up.If you have an interest in any game , in any code, that's live on TV, the choice is a nobrainer.I'm self employed, employ 5 people, and my sporting spend this year, is a fraction of what it once was.Unfortunately, given the economic forecasts, this current situation is likely to get worse before it gets better.No silver bullet.
