Crucifix tattoo could sink new Miss Ireland’s world title hopes

AN ankle tattoo could yet trip up the new Miss Ireland Rebecca Maguire on her rocky road to the title of Miss World.

The Miss Ireland contest has been mired in controversy since the original winner, Miss Mayo Maire Hughes, was stripped of the title for being too old at 26.

As the runner-up, Queen’s University Belfast student Rebecca became the new Miss Ireland.

However, 20-year-old Rebecca sports a cross on a chain tattoo on her ankle. According to the rules of the Miss World pageant, ink is out.

Visible in earlier photos, it was apparently covered up with make-up for the contest in Dublin last weekend.

The winner of Miss Ireland goes on to compete at Miss World contest in Mongolia later this year.

Meanwhile, it has been claimed that up to 13 of the Miss Ireland contestants would be ineligible for the Miss World pageant.

The Irish Daily Mail claims that 10, including Rebecca, have tattoos, while three were below the minimum height of five feet seven inches.

Oh the irony of it. Clearly lost on the classless thrash that participate in such events.

Back up there a bit N16,
you can't make sweeping generalisations like that, the current Miss Clare is a very nice young woman, from good people, and would rightly be horrified and insulted by such a comment.

It's ridiculous that a beauty pageant would exclude a wide range of women in the first place. Take the Wikipedia list of average height figures from around the world; not one country has the average height for a woman at 5'7 or over, the minimum height as stipulated in the competition rules. It's bulls**t like that that encourages teenage girls to develop eating disorders, and popularising a one dimensional concept of beauty.

What is bizarre is that people who get crucifix tattoos tend to be the ones least likely to go to mass or embrace Christianity in any sort of meaningful way.

This is almost as bad as the time Lisa Simpson was stripped of her Little Miss Spingfield crown because Homer wrote OK in the section entitled "Please do not write anything in this box"

What has that got to do with the story at hand?

26 is too old to be beautiful, according to the competition organisers! Scutter of the highest grade.

Think its to do with the fact that a models career is effectively over by their late 20's so theres no point in crowning a Miss World thats too old. Its all sh1te tho.

Speaking of tattoos:

In a hospital in Wales, two nurses are talking during their lunch break:

Ugly Nurse: You know that rugby player with the broken leg that you gave a bed wash to a few days ago? Well I gave him a bed wash this morning and I couldn't help noticing that he has the word LUDO tattooed on his penis.

Pretty Nurse: That's not LUDO ...it's LLANDUDNO.

"Is yer man in there some kind of religious nut? He has the word Lord tatooed on his penis!"
"Really? Last time I saw it it said Longford"

It has everything got to do with the story in hand.

And even some of those men who wear dog collars and pray every day are the least likely to have any sort of morality and true Christianity as they're only doing as their master tells them.

Strange old world we live in.

The age restrictions for the Rose of Tralee are the same but no one complains about that.
