The unveiling of a newly completed wall mural at the Sean O’Heslin GAA Park in Ballinamore was a very special occasion for the young artists involved in the project, under the supervision of Art Teacher and prominent club member Dawn McKeon.

Youngsters, from the fifth classes in Ballinamore Boys’ and Girls’ National Schools were the guests of honour on the day and they were highly complimented on their planning and execution of the mural.

They were joined by their parents, family members, club officers and an excited group of Under 8 and Under 10 footballers from the Ballinamore and St. Mary’s Clubs, who were taking part in a Football Blitz after the unveiling ceremony.

Dawn McKeon complimented the children and their teachers and parents for their interest in the project from start to finish and said the young artists should be very proud of their achievement in completing such an artistic addition to the excellent facilities at the GAA ground.

Introducing Paddy Dolan, who performed the ribbon-cutting ceremony in conjunction with Colin Smith, who was part of the mural and who was representing his brother, Fintan.

Club member Tommy Moran spoke of the long association Paddy has had with the club and with the Sean O’Heslin Park, since his very young days as a Juvenile footballer, on through his career as a club and county star and as captain of the club team that won the 3-in–a row Senior Championships back in the late 1960’s. On behalf of the parents, families and all club members.

Tommy Moran also paid tribute to Dawn McKeon and all the young people involved in the mural and to the Club Officers for the magnificent work being done in the provision of the top class facilities in the grounds and in the general running of the club, including the blitzes which were so much enjoyed by all Juvenile members and visiting clubs.
