One moment from sport that you could watch over and over again without trouble. Something that to you defines genius and greatness above anything else you have ever seen. I deliberated on many, but if I had to choose one that stands out, it has to be this...I never get sick of watching it!

1997 Leinster Football Final.
Some performance by Offaly to score 3-17 .The full forward line that day scored 3-8 Vinny Claffey (1-5) Roy Malone (2-0) and Peter Brady (0-3).OIffay underachieved afterwards I think there was another Leisnter in that team and we had a few near misses in the 6 or 7 years after 97 that could have lead to winning another Leinster
Seamus Darby's goal
1994 All Ireland Hurling final
1998 All Ireland Hurling Final
Unfortunately this isnt up on youtube.

Without a doubt the best sporting moment i've ever seen. This round is just a small taste of their trilogy of fights and it was voted round of the century. What kind of unbelievable heart and courage must it take to receive that kind of punishment and keep on fighting. Unbelievable.

Stall the ball here a second lads.
Snooker is in no way shape or form a sport.
No way in the world.
I rank it alongside lawnbowls or hopscotch.
Ridiculous inclusion.

One may think that it's not a sport because there is no physical exersion required. But when you try to play the game for yourself you begin to realise that these professionals posess such skill and ability. The way Ronnie O' Sullivan plays the game is such a joy to watch. Snooker requires such class and precision. A truely great sport

The first pitch invasion at the Munster hurling Final in Thurles in 1995 following Fergal Hegarty's point, mainly because I was part of it. 63 years of hurt banished that afternoon - the chaos of it, everyone gone mad and then realising the game hadnt finished and coming back in over the line again. And the party that followed. That was the best day of my life, will live with me as long as I breathe. Was the start of the most amazing summer we could ever have imagined.

So you were one of the lads who nearly gave me a heart attack. All I could see (in slow motion) was the ref calling off the game and a replay to follow with us been beaten. It was some swarm of bodies heading onto the field over the fence at the time and thankfully everyone heading back behind the line after Quaid's puckout.
Was the best day of my life also (hope da wife does not read this!). If yer man in the stands was selling Kleenex instead of ice pops that day he would have made a fortune.

I wouldn't be a big snooker fan but that is class. The Ref could hardly keep out of his way.

Some sports require a lot of physical exertion, other sports relatively little. The sports with less physical exertion usually require a huge amount of technical skill.
It is the competition element that makes something a sport. The level of physical exertion involved is completely irrelevant. Some sports by their very nature require a lot more exertion but that doesn't make them any more of a sport. What Ronnie O'Sullivan does is clearly sport. If I go out for a run this evening, I will be helping to keep fit but that is not sport. It would only become a sport if I enter a race at the weekend.

You're dead right. Even though Steve Davis won the BBC Sports Personality of the Year in 1988, and was in the top 3 on 5 occasions, sure doesn't everyone know that it's only a shower of eejits who would think snooker is a sport and vote for a snooker player. Snooker should rightly be re-classified as one of the humanities.

That pass by Noel McGrath for the second of Lar's goals is sensational. His vision is incredible.

No one is doubting that it is an extremely skillful game (like Golf). But snooker (like golf) is not a sport, it's a game.

Sat in section E of the covered stand. Went off the beer for a week afterwards with the shock. One of the happiest days of my life.

For me it's Martin Comerford's goal in the 09 All Ireland. We were still celebrating the first goal when the second one went in..I've never seen so many Kilkenny men overcome with emotion..two old fellas beside me burst into tears, I wasn't far off it myself

That is the sort of silly statement I was thinking of when I wrote my earlier post. I won't repeat myself in detail, I'll just refer you back to the earlier post.
All I will say is, think of a snooker player with a difficult clearance to win the World Final or a golfer needing to get up and down in two shots on the final hole to win a Major. That is the very essence of sport. Sport in its purest form.

By that rationale you must consider Chess a sport.

No, because there's no physical skill in chess. There is great skill involved in determining what move to make but once a player decides what to do, they simply pick up the chess piece and move it. A snooker player or a golfer may know exactly what they want to do but they still have to do it.
