The Limerick Coaching & Games committee are holding a one day practical workshop entitled “Underage Coaching - are we getting it right”
This workshop will take place on Saturday May 26th 2012 in Mick Neville Park Rathkeale from 10:30 am to 1:30pm.
The event is entirely practical based and will demonstrate best practice sessions for club coaches who are coaching teams at all ages in both hurling and football.
The workshop promises to be a fantastic event with two of the top coaches in the country, Paudie Butler who has worked for many years as the National Hurling Director and Donie Buckley coach to the Limerick and Kerry senior football teams conducting the sessions. The workshop is entirely practical based and will give all club coaches an opportunity to see and hear how coaching sessions can be structured to work on various techniques and games that will help to improve players ability.
The workshop will be structured as follows:
10:30am – 11:10am Practical coaching sessions for 6-8 year olds
11:30am – 12:15pm Practical coaching sessions for 10 – 12 year olds
12:30pm – 1:15pm Practical sessions for U14
Both Hurling & Gaelic football sessions will be run side by side.
Also on the day the Coaching & Games committee will be introducing a skill awards template that will be used by all schools/clubs and teams across the county. We will also be introducing templates for the coaches to assess the players that they are working with and to assess their own coaching skills from session to session.
We would encourage all clubs to send their coaches along to this workshop as we all continually strive for excellence with our young players. This is event is free of charge and is open to coaches from Hurling, Camogie, Gaelic Football and Ladies Football. For further information please contact Noel Hartigan on 087-9581568
