Surprising. This was a very successful season for a club of Liverpool's stature.
They won a trophy, which is a big deal for them.

I assume this on the back of his trip to meet the owners in Boston, this was a pre-planned trip so it's possible the media are putting 2+2=5.

If he doesn't get the p45 during this meeting, he'll be there next season, IMO FSG will make their decision rather than dragging it out over the summer. Whatever the decision is, the sooner the better, that way whomever is at the helm can begin the summer dealings before the Euros & prices become inflated.

Another rumour is that a senior player has/is about to hand in a transfer request. Srktel or Reina are the 2 possible names mentioned. That definitely doesn't bode well

If he does go, I just hope that they have a replacement lined up, change for the sake of change will only leave thing revolving around a static circle.

Martinez is also favourite for the Villa job, logical enough I guess considering they tried to get him last summer.

Give him a position saves compo, and prevents any fan backlash for sacking 1 of the greatest names in the club's history.

Originally, the owners were to fly to UK to meet him.
The fact that he has been summoned to Boston is probably good news for him. Unlikely to hand him the p45 and send him back to Blighty. Would not play well with fanbase.

Probably an element of public rebuke to him though, making him come to them and explain himself like schoolboy being summoned to Headmaster's office.
Kenny Dalglish will suffer the blow to his pride though if he is allowed another chance.

Don't think compo will be an issue with FSG. They have apparently included break clauses related to targets and achievements in any season. If Kenny is fired, he won't be walking away with a big cheque in the back pocket.

I'd be surprised if he gets the sack today. Whatever about the state Liverpool are in, I would expect that they would treat a man of his stature better than call him out to the states to give him his P45. I would say the yanks would have more respect than that. Hopefully this is a sign that he is staying on.

They've a lot of positions to fill at the min.
New head of communications
new head of science & ,medicine
new director of football which is of course a big one.
I'd actually like to see someone like Benitez in a DOF role, involved in youth structure, scouting for new players etc, risky though as he's not filled a position like that in the past.

And Talksport radio are now saying that Liverpool FC are refusing to comment on the runours, whether thats ominous or not.

liverpool have to face up to the fact that they are way down the ladder in English football now with City, utd, spurs, chelsea,
arsenal.Everton even finish ahead of them and haven't half the money liverpool have.

the problem is the top players in the world will only go to clubs that are in champions league and its liverpool 3rd year
out of the top 4 and look like they will be for a while with the players they are playing are not good enough

stature will win you nothing he walked himself in 1991
so i think liverpool will be as bad next year under him
but then again your only as good as your players

Madness talk - they've had a successful year, they won the Carling Cup. As long as they keep winning the Carling Cup the fans like blanco will be happy and they will continue being successful.

Is it not the case that Dalglish and Clark decided themselves to make the trip and that he was not summoned by FSG? Seemingly Dalglish reacted very badly to a suggestion after the Swansea game that the search was already on for his replacement and that has prompted his decision to fly over there. That, and the fact that all discussions with agents regarding potential signings has been postponed since the sacking of Comoli prompted Dalglishs visit to Boston as he’s in no mans land as things stand.

Chris Basconbe was saying last night that he’s a brave man to do this because seemingly FSG are extremely -------ed off at the clubs failure to even come remotely close to a top four finish.

Dalglish landed back in the UK this morning apparently, he was in Boston less than 12 hours, and Clarke is still there, he was at a baseball game last night with Werner and Henry. Read into that what you will.

Yep Fergie wasn't under any pressure in his first 7 years at Man U as he won a few cups also, albeit took his time!!

Think he was due back for a pre-planned family holiday, whether that's true or not.

Saw the pic of Clarke at the Red Sox game, if Dalglish was getting the heave ho surely Clarke would also, maybe Kenny was sent for a few hot dogs when the pic was taken, or making up a 'Yankees suuuuuuuuuuk.

One thing that might make FSG a little jittery of change is on the result of what happened the Red Sox after last years end of season collapse, they got rid of Terry Francona and GM Theo Epstein. Bobby Valentine replaced Francona & they went on to have a terrible start to this season, a massive blow out V the Yankees on the 100th anniversary of Fenway left his hob under pressure.

I think the fans of Liverpool are between a rock and a hard place more so than the new owners over Dalglish.
If they do sack Dalglish do the fans really turn on them? Beggars can’t be choosers at this stage and FSG effectively saved the club since they came in. Everyone knows they are better than the previous owners and even the fans themselves are lauding them so I can’t see them grumble too much. What are the options left to the fans if they do take the hump with FSG over Kenny? If they turn and look for FGS out then I don’t think there would be too many more willing to come in.
Hodgson was shafted and everyone got their way with Kenny coming back in but it just hasn’t worked. This season has seen Comoli go, head of sports science, head of PR and also the head of their legal team. There are very few left to carry the can for what has been a dismal season for the club on and off the field. Probably the highest profile is Kenny himself so that’s why all the media speculation is going on.
