Michael Ryan's problems seem to be mounting in the lead up to the showdown with Clare in June. After a difficult league campaign, in which Waterford narrowly avoided relegation and lost selectors and players, Ryan now has to deal with a lengthening list of absentees it seems. With Brian O'Sullivan long ago stating his intention to go to the States for the summer and Noel Connors having missed the whole league through injury, Paudie Mahony has been ruled out for 3/4 months after surgery on his groin.

Now it has been confirmed that Shane O'Sullivan will definitely miss the game as he will be working abroad for some time this summer. Eoin Kelly has a broken thumb and could be out for up to 6 weeks, making him a major doubt for the Clare game. It has also emerged that Maurice Shanahan sustained a hand injury playing for Lismore at the weekend and while the seriousness of the injury is unclear, concerns about him have been raised.

Which all makes depressing news for Waterford supporters. At full strength, I think we'd have too much for Clare, but 'm not sure we can withstand missing so many players. Its hard to even see how the forwards would line up if we are without Kelly, Mahony, Shanahan.
Time!!!

Don't worry, we, Clare were never going to be at full strength either.

Thats not the half of it sadly ! Hopefully things sort themselves out in the next month . 3rd time ( at least ) Maurice has a broken hand in 15mths ...Connors looks gone , Sully Im not sure of , Kelly a month at least ..with possibly Kelly / Paudie / Shan gone even a free taker a bonus at the moment ...

Yeah those 6 forwards would not fill most club sides with fear never mind Clare.
Hopefully Mullane hits form and Shane Walsh is to come back in as well. Maybe one of Kelly and Shanahan will be right for the championship.

Anyone know the Dublin team or how this game played out? What subs were introduced?
I think Waterford v Wexford play a challenge this weekend too.

Good to see Hutchinson and Foley back playing anyway. I haven’t seen Richie play for nearly a year at this stage. With all the injuries we are carrying right now Richie could be an option for the free taker if his form and fitness allow him to grab a place in the team. Another option would be Jamie Nagle, who at the rate we are picking up injuries could feature in the forwards. Mullane and Prendergast are very hit and miss on the frees in club games. Not even sure seamus still takes the frees for Ardmore.

How is Jack Kennedy going for DLS lads?

Is he not still a viable option for the Senior panel at least?

would prefer someone a bit more loyal.. Jack had left both county and club of his own accord in the last few yrs... would give the young fella's a shot instead of tryin to lure a Journey man like Kennedy back...

Free-taker issue is a big one if Shanahan or Kelly aren't back. The Clare match is going to be a tight one and 3 or 4 missed frees could make a huge difference.

As a Waterford man we are missing so much dempt in the panel its so sad to say clare to win easily on the 17th june. We will all have to watch Davy in tears after the match.

Damn club matches in Waterford.

If called upon, I have no problem lining out for Clare. It's probably the best way I can help our cause.

Maurice will be fit
Eoin will be fit
Darragh will be fit
Shane and Paudie won't be available for selection through travelling and injury respectively.

TAKE THIS AS GOSPEL!

Kelly could even be back for the Passage game against Lismore next sunday week depending on how the swelling comes down on his hand.

Finished twenty points apiece against a strong Dubs team,
must be considered a good performance from such an understrength Waterford selection, just imagine how far they'd have won by only for all their injuries.....

Think most clubs would be more than happy to have 6 forwards of that Quality at their disposal, might not be our best 6 but would hope 2/3 could be one day and Seamus owes waterford nothing, comments like that show little respect.
