Alright lads that time of the week to pick your 3 amigos. This week I'm going with Mickelson, Els and Brian Davis is my long shot. Phil has a good vibe for the state of Texas and hadnt a bad players. And im sticking with Els, he has to win one soon! Davis is a handy player and putting himself on leaderboards this year. English lads playing well.

Paddy is playing I see. God only knows with him, be nice to see him have a good week.

Phil, Ernie and Adam Scott are paired together the first two days. Should be a good grouping in what's an average field.

I'm going with Phil this week. He's preparing hard for the US Open which he'd dearly love to win in California. I'm also picking Jason Day who needs to kick start his season after injury. Too much talent to stay down forever.
Adam Scott looked good for a while last week and has won in Texas before.
Those are my three picks - no real long shots there....

I was half thinking Scott myself, been relatively quiet this year.

My three picks this week after an average display of tied 15th for my picks last week are:

Carl Pettersson @ 28-1 €5 e/w
Showing a decent run of form this year and if his comments on twiiter are to be believed, he likes this place.

Rory Sabbatini @ 80-1 €5 e/w
Winner here in 2009 so likes the place, if he putts well he has a chance imo.

Final pick is Canadian Graham de Laet @ 100-1,€5 e/w he is highly rated and drives the ball a mile. Long shot but one to watch.

( Also the Volvo matchplay is this week and a good bet may be South African JB Kruger @ 40-1, has being playing very well recently.)

lookin at this weeks tournament it looks a tough track where premium is on making fairways. would not be surprised to see a big price winner but i have gone with 3.

louis ooisthuizen 25to1. playin really well lst few months bar last week. if the wind blows in texas which it can should cope with it. no course form though

john rollins 45to1. been steady few months without reall challenging. has course form and might contend

jeff overton 50to1. one of these guys who could crop up and win even though he is erratic. done ok here in the past

Good odds on de laet considering the way he's playing. I was going to go with petterssen as my third before opting for davis.

doing this week...

KEEGAN BRADLEY,He's the defending champion here.I don't see anything outside a top five from Bradley.@20-1

JOHNSON WAGNER. Wagner won the Sony Open in Hawaii at the start of the year and has three top-10s. He already has one win in Texas (where hes from) and tied for 12th at the HP Byron Nelson in 2010.@50-1

fancied scott but his price of 11-1 is awful.starting to show form so we will see!also dufner will not be far off either i would think, hes @22-1

Went for John Rollins, Brian Gay and Jason Day. All in with a shout here but id be most hopeful for Day if he hits form!

If the odds were better i might have looked at Lefty - Phil is going to be winning one of these real soon i reckon!

Johnny Vegas is going well early on - they were talking last week about how his success on the golf course is pretty much essential to any type of golf being played in Venezuela given a lot of the courses are being closed down for plantation of that! Very interesting story there for ye lads!

Sorry to hear that faldo - was it ligament damage or bone or what you did? Thats a nightmare!

I got a lump above my left collar bone just before Christmas, thought id pulled a muscle. Went in for scans and that and the next thing i know the doc gave me the news on Friday January 13th he suspected id lymphoma - i got diagnosed with Hodgkins the week after(its much more cureable, great success rate so im fairly positive). I started treatment on Friday Jan 27th(6 2 week cycles of chemo - 12 chemo sessions altogether). I've 8 down and hope to finish on July 6th. I havent got it too bad - the doc is excellent, this treatment is different to what they've been doing previously - 8 sessions instead of 12. They're going with 12 now because they believe there is a better success the cancer would go altogether. If i was to give advice to any of ye on AFR or anyone you're talking to - make sure to have Health Insurance lads! Cos fcuk me id be lost without it and when you're in the health system here(as much as you'll hear a million bad stories about the HSE etc.) they do look after you!

I have it easy in comparison to most people with any form of Cancer and im fairly confident/positive that i'll have it dealt with by July. Feel sorry seeing some of the people in the oncology ward of a day - they're going through a whole lot worse in some cases, often with no cure available!

Cheers ch and cot - as i've said im not too badly off! People are great aswell. I'll have to spend a month sending thank you cards when this is over. The one b1tch with anything like this is the impact on your immune system which means your social outlet would be limited. Cant go to half as many Clare matches or anything so effectively as id say faldo will agree - cabin fever is a balls!!!

Cheers cot - to be honest mate, you'd be surprised how well you'd take it in the circumstances. January 12th i was in the gym doing a bit of running on the threadmill. Im playing with Réalt Dearg and had done something similar the 12 months previous. I was wondering what way my fitness would be as id no training done in months due to work being very busy at year end and obviously after Christmas you'd pack on the weight. In any event, i felt i was flying it and was in much better shape than 12 months previous. I came home that evening to do up a training plan for the year.

About 20 hours later, i was sitting in Vincents Private being told it was probable i had Lynphoma. Outside of the lump, you wouldnt know anything was wrong with me - very bizarre but i got lucky with it being early staging and things have moved fast. In those circumstances and with confidence in your doc and support of those around you fear can be put back in the box. Still wouldnt wish it on anyone but im in a better position to fight it than most!

Fatigue is the one thing you'd have!

In any event, back to the golf - Johnny Vegas is on 4 under! How about that Faldo? Hon Venezuela. Bulling i didnt throw a few quid on him for the ould sentimental vote for golfing freedom in Central America!

One thing I’m sure of, the lads in Realt Dearg will keep you cheered up, ya? Plus they won’t let you feel sorry for yourself either :-)? I know of the Club quite well, and I from memory you had a lot to do with setting it up.

Has the health insurance made a huge difference?
