Well the Sunday game is back , which to me always signals the real start of the championship, even though we have had a few games played already before this.
On been hugely up on Football matters , what kind of a game are we likely to get today?
Hope it's a god one , it would be terrible to see a bore-fest after the Soccer last night.
I assume Galway are favorites.

Galway are playing a lovely style of football in fairness. Great to watch. Horror show from the Rossies. 2cd goal just there now, game done and dusted.

Do you honestly believe this Roscommon team is capable of overturning a 9 point deficit?

You got the sense Galway were sitting back on their lead there for the last 5 or 6 minutes of the half. Not good to get into that mindset so early. Mulholland will have to warn them to continue playing and not just expect the big lead to carry them home.

At this stage I would nearly take off Donie Shine. He looks completely disinterested his freetaking has been terrible and he was incredibly selfish not laying off that handpass to Karol mannion which would have resulted in a goal .

Cathal Cregg is causing awful havoc when he's running at the Galway defence, winning a load of frees. It's not quite over just yet, but the Rossies are going to have to go flat out from the start of the second half.

Nice to see football being played the way it was intended to be played. No blanket defence, 13 men behind the ball shyte that poses for gaelic football in many games. The use of the long kicked pass delivered withy accuracy that favors the attacking player, a catch in the air, and then fire it over the bar from distance is what makes football enjoyable. Shades of Mattie McDonagh about the second Galway goal, Conroy is well on top at 14.
Roscommon coming back into it after a nervous start. It won't be one way traffic in the second half, Galway to win by 4 / 5 points.

Galway are committing a host of cynical fouls. Finian Hanley in particular, really putting a stop to any of Roscommon's momentum.

Scandalous performance from Roscommon. They look like they have never played with each other before absoulutely zero team work, terrible ball control and a complete lack of intensity.Fergal O'Donnell looks like a genius of a manager now

When Gaelic Football is bad it's almost unwatchable! The handpass is ruining it anyway.

There was nothing wrong with the brand of football today and there certainly wasnt excessive use of handpasses in fact Galways footpassing was exceptional and they used the long ball really well.It was just a mistmatch is all that was wrong

Was impressed by Galway today. There was a lot of criticism of Mulholland picking the likes of Burke, Sice and Flynn at half forward who are normally in the backs (Burke, Sice) and at midfield (Flynn) but he obviously knew something that the supporters didn't and finsihed with what looked like a pretty strong team. Great to see Mikey Meehan back after a career threatening injury and PJ is always class on the ball. Tomas Fahy is a also and excellent halfback to introduce. Roscommon were poor but you can only play waht is put in front of you. By the way, I thought Roscommon were a lot more cynical than Galway even though it wasn't as cynical as other games I've seen.

Impressive from Galway. Roscommon were poor but were just overwhelmed by a much better team on the day. Encouraging start and hopefully we can build on it and have a long summer. Every sub that Galway brought on looked as good a the player they replaced.
Anyone calling taht "poor" football knows zilch about the game. The crossfield pass from Joyce to Meehan and the 50 yard pass from Meehan in return later were worth the price of admission alone. If you cannot recognize and admire that type of skill then don't bother watching.

Why would you put a a general point about a game on a match thread where the game exhibited zero of the aspects of the game you mentioned

I think you're from Limerick. What would you know about football? if you call the way Galway played today "cynical" then you must have been watching a different game to everyone else but sure I suppose that's expected given where you're from!

As previously alluded to by Frasier, why would you mention it during todays game? Run along there now and post another pathetic Soccer topic, you seem to knock a lot more enjoyment out of that.
