Donegal looked impressive in the highlights package and played some good football a kicked some great scores. They have a top class full forward line one of the best in the country.Their footpassing looked good aswell. They could be an even bigger treath this year if the play a bit more positively

Cavans full forward looked like a top class player. He scored 3 cracking points

At least 3 defenders scored too, two from the full back line.

Hard to judge them there. Cavan looked very young and physically weak against Donegals bigger bodies. Donegal dominated midfield so could afford to be more positive. I expect them to revert back to their defensive formation once they play the big name teams.

Good win for them though. Low key and won at a canter in the end!

Donegal were fairly defensive - judging from the deferred coverage on BBC tonight. Lots of short kick outs and men behind the ball. Did use the kick pass more than last year which made a better game of it.

Cavan badly hampered by the lack of a free-taker and giving away cheap possession. Took some nice long range points early on but struggled against the blanket defence.

Feck it if id known that twas deferred on BBC I wouldn't have found out the result earlier and would have watched it. I was only judging Donegal on the snippets I saw on the Sunday game and a 90 second report I heard on the radio.

Donegal have more strings to their bow than just a blanket defence.

Not alone do they defend in numbers, they attack in numbers too. At one stage today, I counted 10 players inside the Cavan 45.

Seven different scorers today, and no Michael Murphy, Donegal were home and hosed before half time.

Cavan were slightly better than 12 months ago. Eugene Keating is an excellent target man up front, but, as already alluded to, they weren't physically strong enough to test Donegal. Terry Hyland has a 5 year term. If the players buy into the intense physical preparations that the leading counties have pioneered, they'll have a chance. But the omens aren't great. At least two squad members skipped the team meal post match and were supping pints in their local while watching the deffered coverage on BBC. Not much sign of camaraderie there.

For Donegal, Derry in Ballybofey next day out will be a different kettle of fish.

John Brennan was at the match today, but he will have learned hee haw.

McGuinness' cards are still very close to his chest. Today was almost perfect. Comfortable win, no injuries, no red cards, no fuss.

And the minors had a great win too, beating a Cavan team featuring 8 of last year's Ulster winning squad.
