Any one watching this lads.

Hard to believe some things that have been on it.

The GAA is those days, and the FAI

The next part should be interesting....

Had heard the story of Liam Brady before alright but didnt realise Eoin Hand had it as well. Mad really and that was only 30 odd years ago. Still an element about these days but thankfully very little. All sport for all.

An English team did a Nazi salute at some point in the 30s too so it wasnt just us.
Didnt know we Played NI in the early 80s but no surprise to see them cause so much trouble, some things never change.
Must be heartbreaking for LOI clubs to watch it seeing the great crowds they once had for it to disappear so quickly.

I had this on sky+ and just watched the first half of it now.
Did anybody see the footage of Ireland and Spain in Dublin in 1966, I've never seen such an obvious gift of a goal from the spanish keeper, i don't know if there was anything made of it at the time but it was so clearly crooked its unbelievable. He basically threw the ball into his own net in a very blatant fashion, it's about 20 minutes into the program- hilarious, check it out.

Ha, seen that alright, he basically caught it and then slam-dunked it into the net!

Seen the first part half of last nights BB. Ya it was decent enough, not alot of what you wouldn't have already heard though. It's mostly concentrated around the Charlton era and the end of Hands reign, gives some interesting insights in fairness. Have the rest of them recorded so looking forward to sitting down and watching all of them.

Dunphy was acting the clown on it last night and started crying when he was reliving his frustration of the Ireland V Egypt Italia 90 game.

That was in the days when keepers could be charged. Continental keepers didn't like it. Noel Cantwell (normally a full back) played no. 9 for Irelad and had Iribar (Spain's keeper) terrified. He went up for a Frank O'Neill cross with one eye on the charging Cantwell and put it into his own net. I was there!

The first two are much better than last nights episode ... or maybe it's just that I remember the Hand and Charlton years and didn't hear anything new last night.

I have to say i like a lot of others was caught up in the occasion of USA after beating Italy in the Giants Stadium.
But u have to say now that Jack was naive with his up and at em put em under pressure tactics he refused to move off under the heat of Florida v Mexico. Was the Egypt game played there aswell ?

I deleted it off sky+ seaman so i can't confirm this but he didn't seem to be under any real pressure from Cantwell or anyone else. A long floating cross came in from the right hand side, he caught it cleanly and turned right around and threw it in the net, i don't think i've ever seen anything quite as pathetic from a top class goalkeeper

I agree with you that he wasn't under great pressure on that occasion but he was terrified by then. He was watching Cantwell and, as you say, batted the ball into his own net. he hadn't actually caught it and was probably trying to put it over the bar.

Anyone watch this last night confirms a few things for me Keane totally manipulated the saipan thing first he decides he's going home only to change his mind and stay, he then does the whole interview thing to force mccarthy to take action so he is the victim and secondly McCarthy was our best manager since Charlton maybe better than Charlton when you consider the players he had.Played the best football and got some big results against the likes of Portugal Holland Germany Croatia Yugoslavia, spain

thought the same thing myself.. I never really fell on either side of the whole saipan fence but Keane last night looked smug and like a spoilt child in the bits the showed from the tommy gorman interview.

I think History is proven to be a lot more kinder to McCarthy on this issue that Keane , at the time McCarthy was public enemy no 1 when the story broke and the players who backed him got a hard time too from most of the Irish public. These days a lot of the hardened pro Keane people at the time have revised their opinions since.

It still hurts seeing Macedonia score that late goal in 99. For me thats the biggest black mark against McCarthy not Saipan. He changed the team around a lot in the latter stages and we lost all shape.
Was hoping they'd also show the Macedonia 'Orange Squash' match when we got hammered while dressed like a few left footers on the Garvaghy Road and McAteers karate kick.
