Just signed up here again recently after a few years sabbatical & I have to say that An Fear Rua is dead duck. This place used to be a great place to come for GAA chat but sadly it now seems to be past its sell by date ,the phase “tumble weed blowning in the wind” comes to mind . From my previous incarnation I seem to remember an almost tyrannical approach by the moderators who seemed hell bent on banning people left right & centre for the most innocuous reasons. You reap what you sow I guess, shame really.

Why dont you start a really good thread on hurling and you might be surprised at the amount of us who just want a good range of opinions, debate and discussion.

Serious question. If you really felt like that, why did you register again?

Times I wonder if this is really a GAA website at all considering the sheer quantity of soccer threads on here.

Looks like Jay is a bit dissapointed that he didn't get the reaction he was expecting, he's having another go, nobody got excited at all there fella, just calm down in your bedroom and come back to us when you are ready to say sorry.

My thoughts, I mean, one thing to go back to a place you don't think is any good, then start a thread to tell all.

It's posts like this I ask myself why don't people ignore the "Other Sports" subforum and just stick the Gaelic Games Forum on this website? Obviously if you go in to All Topics you're going to find topics on everything, but if it's just GAA you want, stick to the Gaelic Games section instead of complaining!

You wouldn’t have to be Serlock Holmes to deduce another major cause of this sites decline after reading the childish barrage above..

There is another reason. This is predominantly a hurling site which means it is munster based. 2-3 years ago you had cork strikes, munster rugby, limerick unease and waterford, limerick doing ok. Plenty to talk about there.
Now you have KK, munster gone down and no strikes this winter. Its the sports drama that is missing not the users

I for one hope that you will stick around and astound us all with your excellent wit and intelligent insights. talents that are so obvious from the short few posts you have graced us with already, it is just what this place needs right now. your timely return is welcomed by some about here.

the number of users and the broad range of topics says otherwise I'm afraid......

I think this has to do with a previous topic. Lots of people now access from a mobile device. Easy access but posting is a bit of a pain. I'm currently posting mobile. But just to prove my point. I normally wouldn't bother. Times are changing. People want info. But they are not prepared to provide it

Maybe there a bit to much soccer on this site. But the gaa usually gets going by May and soccer finishes on that month as well, except every 2nd year with Euros and World Cup. And this summer for the first time since 2002, Ireland are playing soccer during the summer months. Which will be great of course. 'The nation holds its breath' and the like. GAA every summer is the best thing about being in Ireland. During the winter months you would just have the manegerial comings and goings and the start of the League campaign as well as the brilliance of the All-Ireland Club championship, culminating on St.Patrick's Day. Of which they're would be numerous threads on this site.
Naturally enough from August to May they're would be a few soccer threads as well of course the rugby.
Personally my first passion is for hurling and Gaillimh Abu in particular. But this summer it will also be 'Come on you boys in green'. And what harm.
