Rumours on KK cats is John has been dropped from the senior panel.
Not a huge shock in ways but would have thought he was good enough for the panel.

I doubt very much Cha would come back into the fold, especially now that Buckley has made his presence felt.
As for Mulhall, I was wondering why he got so much game-time during the league. I think perhaps Cody was kind of giving him a chance to prove himself at inter-county level.
He's a hard worker, a very good club man and certainly very dedicated to Kilkenny but unfortunately he's not inter-county standard, he gives away the ball too much, he's far too inconsistent and sometimes just plain awful.
There's other lads coming through who are much better than him so I wouldn't be surprised if he's had to make way.
If he is gone at least he's gone with his medals, the knowledge he played a part in the most successful panel in history and thanks for his efforts.

I believe John Mulhall was dropped from the Kilkenny Senior panel for 'disiplinary' reasons. Thats what the story seems to be.
Cha will not be back anytime soon to Kilkenny, he was M.O.T.M. (his hurling in the last 10-15 minutes was outstanding) for the Shamrocks in their 3rd Round League match last Friday against St. Martin's (ironically Mulhall's club) but went A.W.O.L. for a tournament final in St. Molleran's GAA v Carrickshock the following Sunday, he is at a cross-roads with regards to even his club career now. It's a great pity.

Just for clarification Rush, is this Mulhall or Cha you are talking about in the above piece?

That story is wrong. He was not dropped ror disiplinary reasons. I know the story going around and people just have it backwards. Kilkenny is an amazing county for people either making up storys or just getting them wrong.

Cha, I'm referring to - I was speaking to a cousin of mine from Knocktopher + seemingly Cha went 'missing' and didn't turn up for the tournament final at St. Molleran's GAA, which is very strange and unbelieveable considering it was against Carrickshock (Shamrock's near neighbours), I believe a few more of the Shamrocks players were also not 100% either, due to going on a drinking session....it's a pity to hear this type of thing about Cha....

Fair enough, but it seems you heard the same story that I heard...it's strange that Cody gave him several starts (game time / sub) in the League just gone, yet now, drops him on the eve of the championship...?!

From bitter personal experience I fully agree with you 67 - people seem to like believing or adding to lies and the worst part is there's no way to stop them. I think it's unfair to put up people like John Mulhall - one of the nicest guys I've met - as the subject of a thread. It can lead to even more rumours and innuendo and can serve no purpose. I know that's not the intention of the thread but we've all seen this type of thing deteriorate quickly.

Yes I heard it this morning, the incident happened AFTER he was let go. And when I say incident it was actually very minor but people just made assumptions.
Cody has a history of giving guys that are at the bottom end of the panel game time in the league to "prove themselves" and I suppose a chance to play themselves back onto the panel.

Even DJ's illness sparked off awful stories within 2 hours, I cant get my head around how something so untrue could start spreading within 2 hours! Over time chinese whispers can alter stories but this was off the wall stuff in such a short space of time!

I thought the writing was on the wall for John after the dirty looks Cody gave him throughout this video myself! For those who haven't seen this before, listen to Cody at the end.
I hope Declan Ryan has this ready and waiting if we meet up again this year.

Haha when you said he was AWOL for the final I just thought you meant he played poorly as opoosed to not actually showing up at all!

I can't see Cody giving him any dirty looks in that piece of video Harry.
In fact he was laughing and clapping along with it the whole time.
'Twas only a bit of craic anyway, ...a sup of drink taken as well I'd say!

In fairness that video was only a bit of craic and that's hardly the reason Cody dropped him or anything. The video was fair funny though in fairness, fierce harsh on poor old TJ Reid though!
I thought though when Mulhall broke through first a year or two ago that he'd be a decent enough hurler for Kilkenny but it just hasnt't worked out for him for whatever reason.

Ah yeah i know it was only a bit of craic after a big win for KK.
I agree, when John first came on the scene for KK after impressing for the U21's he looked a Senior star in the making. He hasn't the silkiest style around but he was a grafter and knew where the posts are.
He is young so there is no reason why he can't force his way back into Cody's plans again.
Good luck to him.

Onelegged, I guess I hadn't thought about the potential for the thread to go a way you talk about.
As a KK fan and having played at a decent level, I have nothing but great damiration for all members of the current panel as the work and dedication they put in is far mor ethan we ever even dreamed of in our day.
I guess I was puzzled with our injuries that John would be let go at this time.
I loved the song at the homecoming last year as did everyone including my 5 year old nephew who learned it off by heart within a day.
John is a grafter. The type of lad Cody generally loves. A trier who gives his all. I hope John does make his way back on to the panel.

I thought the song\act was terrible and kind of cringeworthy to be honest. I didnt find it remotely funny. Fair play to him for having a go but I d rather the Rose of Mooncoin to that sh1te!! Pat Kerwick from Tipp was the man with his rendition of the Galtee Mountain Boy when Tipp won.

No real surprise to see Mulhall dropped of the team, he was only a mullocker. Some of the wides he hit over the last few years were desperate.

I read somewhere recently, perhaps last weekend about this song and about how Cody did not approve in that its 'not the Kilkenny way'
First time seeing it but Cody didnt seem to be overly worried and seems to be enjoying it, but his face was obscured during the Tipperary Pog Mo Thoin . However Cody's comments about the shortest intercounty career of all time on the video says it all........

No problem alien. As I said above, I didn't doubt the intention of the thread. I always make a point of reading your posts - they're always balanced and fair-minded. There are people who would use the opportunity to stir up some dirt but thankfully it hasn't happened on here. Like you, I'm full of admiration for these lads and I suppose that's why I get a bit concerned when I see a player's name in a thread title but I admit I may be a little over sensitive.
Anyway, enjoy the warm weekend - assuming the forecast was right - and the acres of flesh on view in the Castle Park.
