Spain have injuries,Holland have passengers,Portugal are a 1 trick pony, Germany are a good bet however.....England
1.Always hyped to the t***s.. Not much hype this time around. The media are not expecting a whole pile and the pressure is off a little.
2.Roy Hodgson.Good manager,Good at the tactics and he has expierience at international level.
3.Chelsea.Winning the champions league(albeit with only 4 english men starting the final) will do not only the english chelsea players but the english panel a serious lift before the euros.Especially after beating germans in a shootout.
4.Past touraments. A double edged sword but i think the previous screw ups will stand to this bunch.Terry,Gerrard,Lampard,Rooney,Hart,Lescott are all big game players.
5.Rooney.He's had a great season and the rest will do him the world of good. He' be like a caged animal if they are in good position after the first 2 games.
I know it will be a very difficult thing to do but to back them at 10/1 they are a very good price.Ireland will not win the euros because they havnt got the players. And you need a huge amount of luck to do a Greece.I just have a feeling the ould enemy will pull it off this time.

What about France?
They looked very impressive against Germany, recently
And Nasri will be buoyed up by his Premier League medal

5 Reasons whi Engerland won't win are as follows:
1) Have no distinct formation or style of play.
2) Absolutely shocking in major tournaments.
3) They have only one striker that is any good and he is missing for the first 2 games.
4) A Manager who has proven himself with smaller teams in the Premier League but when it came to managing a team that had a lot of big egos in the dressing room, he failed. And one thing England are not short on is Ego.
5) The Tabloid press, if England are doing well, the Fleet street mafia will find or fabricate something about a player, WAG or even Woy, that will disrupt them, and thus be used as an excuse for failure.

They'll be virtually unbeatable then as soccer has just become and individual sport in the last few weeks

I think England not to qualify at 6/4 or to finish bottom of their group at 5/1 are the best value bets.
They've no decent striker for the first 2 games. John Terry in the centre of defense is a disaster waiting to happen. His performance at Anfield against the likes of Henderson and Carroll a few weeks ago is a taste of things to come.
When England's "golden generation" players like Terry, Gerrard and Lampard were at their peak they were getting torn apart by the likes of Germany and struggled against Andorra, Algeria and Trinidad and Tobago. Now that they're well past their peak they're hardly going to improve upon that.

Croatia would be my outside pick, after that it is very hard to look past the Germans imo.
I think teams will have copped onto Spain at this stage and will be very negative against them. I fancy Ireland to draw their 3 games in the group stage, whether that will be enough to qualify remains to be seen.

For those of us living in England I couldnt start to imagine what it would be like if England went on to win it and as always Im hoping it never happens. However this time something tells me things might be different and would agree with the 5 points of the opening poster. The Chelsea thing will give them a huge lift and they will start with 3 of the back four that knocked out Barcelona.

Any team with Nigel De Jong in it have got to start as favourites.

I agree with the unbearable part, nightmare! Yes they will be hard enough to beat, but fact I can't see them scoring is the biggie for me. Plus I would rate their chances at back better with Cahill instead of Terry.

Jayus Harry, I don’t know what youre on but it must be from a good harvest.
Croatia good enough to win it but not good enough to beat Ireland. Ireland and Croatia to get out of the group. That would mean that Spain Italy and Ireland would not win a single game in the tournament if Ireland happened to get 3 draws and get qualify.
For that to happen Croatia would have to draw with Ireland and beat both Italy and Spain, who in turn both draw with each other.
What odds would you get on that? Could you even bet on such a scenario?

England in a easy group, probably come out of it but dats as good as it gets for them.
Fancy Ireland to come out with Spain as winners this could mean an Ire v Eng 1/4final or Ire v France, which would u rather knock out ?
Germany for me to win it out

I can't see us beating teams Keane but i can also see us being very hard to break down, so i think we may draw our games yeah. I don't think Spain are as strong as many believe right now, Puyol and Villa are massive losses to them and hunger will be an issue too i think.
Fancy Croatia to win the group.

Even if Engerland make a brillian run in getting to the Euro Final. They would bottle it and fluff their lines. It will not exactly be 'The Sun Wat Won It', with unbearable media attention. They may even get to a semi and also lose their nerve, even if the gutter press were to give them less grief.

I can see Spain ripping Ireland apart Harry, and winning handy against us. If Ireland were to lose to Croatia, then I could see Spain put 4 or 5 past us. If Ireland get a draw or please God max points v Croatia, then I could see Ireland holding Spain to 2-0 or something.

A bloke at work was on recently about British Bulldog spirit, I asked what Britsh Bulldog spirit was and his answer was long winded and lacking in clarity, to be perfectly honest I fear he was talking rubbish.
Can anyone here tell me what British Bulldog spirit is supposed to mean?
I'd love to be able to ram it down that --------s throat.
Absolutely love it.
I think Italy will have a good euros, don't know why just have a feeling for them.
Wouldn't it be gas if they eon it out.
Would be awful Craic

The way it was explained to me, odds of 10-1 on England to win means that if you put €100 on England you would end up €100 poorer.
1. Even the myopic English press won't hype 'em cos they know people are stupid, but not that stupid.
2. Manager hasn't had a chance to know his best team and won't have time to get them to play "his" way.
3. Liverpool, Forest, Villa winning European cup something like 7 times in 8 years with English players in the majority coincided with one of Englands worst periods in international football.
4. Players that were not up to it in past tournaments when in their prime are hardly likely to suddenly up their game.
5. Rooney appears to have the hopes of a nation pinned on him ... but he has a record of reacting badly in such circumstances. And after that, the available strike force looks pretty thin.

I think the spirit he's talking about is that stuff jt will be drinking to no end after they go out on penos after the second round. Here's hoping.

There is nothing expected of them so they will probably do better than expected. They have a few things going for them.
1. Nobody expects them to do well, the ideal for a team that normally flops under high expectations.
2. They have a few world class players and several decent ones. Hart is a very good keeper. An in form Rooney played in the proper formation can and has wrecked havoc on any defense. Although he has a had a terrible season Carroll could cause European defenses some problems and if used as a target man to knock balls Rooney's way, it could be an effective weapon. Ashley Cole is one of the best left backs in the world as he showed in the CL. Cahill is developing into a very solid center back, himself and Lescott should be solid (If they start Terry they deserve to go home quickly).
3. They are in a relatively easy group. I could see them beating the French, as it's not a particularly good French team. If they set themselves up defensively as Chelsea did recently and counter attack with Walcott and Oxlade Chamberlain on the flanks they could give a lot of teams trouble. Central midfield is their big problem, but if they assign their two central modfielders to defensive duties maybe not as big a problem.
In summary I would not be surprised if they reach a semi-final but win it they will not. Germany in my opinion will win it, they are a young hungry side and keen to make up for their disappointing exit at the last World Cup. Several of them will also be keen to make up for the CL final.

So by your stats as read above 25% of the time it could be absolutely anyone. What makes you think this isn't one of those times? (Again, won't be England though. They have no shape, no guidance and their best player is suspended for the opening two games).
