he is new to the kerry panel but is probably 23 years of age. was a useful minor but had a few bad injuries which stunted his development and by some accounts was not overly pushed about inter county football but has given it a serious shot this year. played very well in the league and on his league form is worth his starting position. plays for moyvane who are well down the junior ranks but tend to produce teak tough north kerry footballers

Fair play to him for a junior club player although junior in Kerry would be of a higher standard than most counties

Donaghy's a bit old to be pulling a stunt like that. Doesn't say much for him.

Ah Star is a good guy and Jack is Jack.Star strikes me as a man who really likes every sport and he has always been there for every game for Jack since he first made the team. That was a bit harsh but he done the exact same thing to the Gooch and O'Se in the championship a few years ago for going out for a pint after a game.Got to admire the man as how many other managers would have the balls to sit star players like that down for an infraction of the rules.

I wonder though if it was Cork they were playing on Sunday would he have still followed through with dropping him?

I seem to remember the time he dropped the Gooch was before they played Sligo I think, who they were probably expecting to beat handy enough and when it wasn't going their way that day he wasn't long in calling for the Gooch

Antrim....twas the Galviniser who turned that game.

Do Tipp have a goal scorer? There are goals there for them, if they can kick them.

Philip Austin got a cracker against Kerry the last day out. Young Alan Maloney could be one to watch for 1st goalscorer too imo, and he's 16-1 with PP to do so.

care to expand on your "Doesn't say much for him" comment.

Your post says more about your narrow mindness than Donaghy's trip to the Champions League final says about him.

Can you cast your mind back a few weeks ago when he lined out for kerry on the same weekend his father was buried????? Thats says more about his commitment to the jersey than a trip to the champions league final.

He is a mad Chelsea fan and skipped off to the Champions League final which is hardly a cardinal sin given that he has been slogging out at training for years and years now. Jack has dropped him. It is said that he is dropped because of the CL trip. If so, he will have to take his medicine. Also, it is not impossible that he was getting a subs jersey anyway. There is talk of kerry playing dec sullivan at 14 as teams have copped on to donaghy at 14 and his form in the half forward line and mfield has been mixed.

you should withdraw your comment

jack seems to like playin this im the boss card.hes done it with the o se's galvin and now donaghy.but the great thing is he can afford to do it with the draw he gets in munster but also the attitiude of the players they know no one is bigger than the team and kerry football.dont think tipp will like to see donaghy arriving with 20 mins to go best chance they might have is for padraic maher to have a go of him!

How did Dionaghy get a ticket for the champions league final. It must be fairly galling for real Chelsea fans who didnt get to the game to see a bandwagoner like Donaghy get a ticket to the final

If Kerry did not have training last weekend, then Donaghy was free to travel to Munich for the Champions League Final. If I remember correctly, Diarmuid O'Sullivan of Cork was in Cardiff in 2006.

However if he missed one or more training sessions, then Jack would be within his rights

Jack is within his rights no matter what as he is ultimately the man that calls the shots.

equally Kieran Donaghy is within his rights to go to the CL final. He is an amateur sportsman not under contract to Kerry football for every weekend of his life.

Whether this is an easy game for Kerry tomorrow or not has very little to do with sitting Star down.Under Jack the message has been made very clear on more than one ocasion no individual is bigger than the team as a whole and I believe even if they were playing Cork tomorrow Star would still be warming the bench at least to start of the game.I doubt very much if you will hear one peep out of Donaghy regarding it as it should be.What happens in Kerry stays in Kerry.

If he was totally free and there was no training scheduled Kieran Donaghy was free to travel to a once in a lifetime event that is not very many hours away on a plane as long as he wasnt enjoying the social habits of a non intercounty player when out there. Its a trip that Ciaran McManus of Offaly would have made regularly for instance.

If he had a business meeting in Europe for Instance would Jack also call it a breach of discipline?

But as I said if he missed important training, Jack might have a gripe witb it allright.

Is it possible that he was dropped for his display against Mayo, the last day? You could argue he cost them the game.

Surely that has more to do with it.He has looked rather sloppy and full of himself in the last while if you ask me and thats on top of all the whinging he has been doing recently on the field maybe being droped is the kick in the hole he needs in order to get him back to top form.
