RTE must have recognied they made a balls of the Committee Room last year and taken on board some of the scathing criticism of it. then what have they gone and done? kept the package and changed the wrapping and relabelled the programme "Championship Matters". Did anyone see the state of him on the ad for the programme? does he think he some sort of a celebrity or something? all sorts of footage of him kicking and pucking a ball thinking it is funny and entertaining. jez would they not show a bit of footage of the players\crowds.

I do but I cant complain as I was accused of being a dreaful whinger on another thread I started in relation to RTE so I am taking a positive view to evrything from now on (regardless of how sh1te RTE's GAA coverage can be), to keep people happy

Fair play to Marty
Where would we be without characters?
Next you'll be wanting Enda Kenny to present The Sunday Game!

eh marty doesnt exactly ooze much more character than enda kenny. I have nothing against character. plenty of lads out there like the newstalk lads, ger gilroy, dara o cinneide, tmaybe even the likes of Jason Sherlock who have character that could be given the job rather than wheeling out marty again and again. even con murphy who does sunday sport on the radio and the LOI soccer show MNS

not sure about dara o cinneide, but the other three you've listed are completely lacking in screen 'presence'

what exactly do you mean by screen presence?
i watched one of them newstalk sports lads present italk sport on setanta and chair sports discussions on that show. thought he was very good. Gilroy did a GAA programme a few years ago and i thought he was okay. variety is the spice of life - we have had marty's "presence" now for years. i dont think he is so good that RTE cannot give new blood a cut off the show.

Marty the poor devil is very hard to take at the best of times. How in hell did he ever get that gig and always stating the obvious after the play is over like we need his stupid explanation after we all just saw what went down in the play.Oh and his sidekick what ever his name is stating that was a great point when the guy scored from dead straight in front of the posts when it would hve been much harder him him to make a wide out of it

plenty of them persons i mentioned could come across well and have across very well when giving the chance in the past. I have already given some examples. and if you call marty acting the clown in that ad screen presence, you are marty's buddie, taking the ------- or suffering from sun stroke!!! The ad is embarrassing. whats your honest opinion of it???
TV3's championship programme, Seo Spoirt on TG4 were all better than the Committee Room s**te Marty wheeled out last year. Hard to see why didnt change presenter when they saw the need to change the name of the show

thats the show - i couldnt remember the name of it. ger gilroy and some good looking doll used present it if i recall correctly. a good mix of a bit of fun, humour and serious GAA discussion. why RTE moved away from that is beyond me? Neither Des Cahill's road to croker or marty's committee room have been as good as Park Live or Breaking Ball. Beginning to smack of RTE's highly paid long serving presenters havent the talent of the younger turks who presented and produced Park Live or Breaking Ball. it was probably independent companies produced PL and BB

Marty is a horrific leech on RTE's GAA coverage. The cringiness and chessiness of his work is so off putting its not funny. I refuse to watch any production he's involved in, and if he's commentating i press the mute button.
I see Colm Parkinson is now deemed a top GAA pundit. Can anyone explain to me how to hell this talentless hobo is bluffing his making fees from the state broadcaster, among others, for his opinions on anything?
RTE is currently flogging GAA coverage to a slow death. The whole thing needs a colonic irrigation.

Ya it was the best effort they've ever made at it really. Went seriously down hill after that. And even then they had to fill the crowd with a different bunch of parochial culchies every night. It's like they can't help themselves.

Marty hasn't been the same since, in his interview after the 2009 final, he more or less suggested to Brian Cody that the ref had just robbed Tipp of an allIreland. Cody's outburst frightened the sh1te out of Marty(even his teeth went whiter!)
