This Kiely lad seems to get under a lot of people's skin in limerick and richie is hardly the 1st full back to come under his focus!! He had a fine game today even though his man scored 1-2 and had a hand in a few scores

I thought the Limerick number 2 had a great game today, whatever his name is.

That would be Walsh at 2.All the Limerick players had a great game today.

We were the better team for a hour. Not many can say that when they play Tipp.Even gettting beat today its still looking good for the rest the year.We have one of the most dangerous forward lines in the country.A vert good back line.

The only think that i disagree with from today is the managements thinking in the second half that lost us the game i think.

But well done Lads we'll be hurling long into the summer yet!!

great display by limerick yesterday, the only shortcoming I could see was a lack of ball winners in the half-forward line. whatever puck out strategy you had failed, a lot of puck outs went straight out of play and as a result came right back at you with interest. Or they were pulled out of the air by Moloney way too easily.
If you sort that out you will a very dangerous outfit in the back door. Good luck with the rest of the season.

Martin Kiely feeds & thrives on negatives. He will never have a good word to say about anyone in Limerick GAA. McCarthy will get no apology. Am surprised anyone still reading him. Great performance by all the backs. Something had to give in the final quarter when balls were raining in on top of them as half-forward line cleaned out. Lets give the Qualifiers a right good rattle

Great effort today by the lads today, a pity we couldn't get over the line but they can't be faulted for trying.

If they can carry the same hunger into the qualifiers with Hickey back & Hannon have some got more training then hopefully we could progress that way.

Martin Kiely doesn't have to give an apology to anyone. He is paid to write a column based on his opinion. That is what he did. It would be worse if he was a sheep and just followed the crowd which is what people do here simply because it is the popular thing to do. He may not get it right all the time, even if he gets it wrong all the time, at least he is man enough to express his own personal opinion

staycalm, we all post our opinions on this site (without pay) and certainly are not sheep. Kiely is probably the most divisive influence Limerick GAA has ever encountered. Buy any other provincial newpaper and you wont find a continuous agenda of beration, attack and bitterness towards County Board Officers, players, whoever he can get a cheap shot. Some of the negativity is factual but his column is highly imbalanced and you invariably have to die to get positive comment out of him.

All im saying is that while I might not agree with what he has to say, he is as entitled to his opinion as you or me and for that he, or no man, should apoolgize. Perhaps, he can be accused of using the wrong language to get his point across but a lot of the time he is just putting in print form exactly what is being said by most people around the county

You are highlighting your lack of knowledge of the GAA in that statement.

You obviously don't know Martins background?

Not worth the hassle SC, ignore them lad.

Rome wasn't built in a day, yesterday could be the start of something special for Limerick Hurling.

You would wonder how some lads get out of bed every morning with the attitudes they have on here.

Strongly disagree Stay Calm.

No one gets a free ride to say whatever they want and where opinion is blatantly, wrong, false or offensive, one should apologise. Weigh up potential unfair comments on players with the circulation this guy has, versus the effort amateur players put into the sport without a similar pulpit to respond or defend themselves, and you get a sense of the potential hurt that might be caused.

The 'cancer on Limerick hurling' comment a few years ago was just low. I refuse to buy the paper after that.

Add to that the writing wouldn't pass for an essay in the junior cert! 'A man wrote me a letter last week' 'well let me tell you' 'real hurling people know'... dire!

WHAT??? Not that I feel the need to vindicate myself on an internet chat room to a moron like yourself about the hurling exploits of a self important idiot of a journalist, so all I’ll say on the matter I personally would wipe the floor with kiely as far as hurling careers are concerned and I don’t feel the need to berate a young fella starting off in his hurling career for Limerick.

Now you have lost the run of yourself.

You are throwing personal attacks towards me and the sports journalist.

You still don't know Martins GAA background, do you?? Rather than getting angry and throwing insults, you should educate yourself on the facts first.

Glasandban, thats at least 2 of us that have not bought the paper since his attack on some Limerick hurlers back then and 1 in particular who had no forum to defend themselves. Kiely also attacked the football board chairman and again that man had no forum to reply. Kiely thinks its good to be controversial ( he try's to be the Eamonn Dunphy of the Lmerick Leader) but all he does really is stir the brown stuff.

Say what you want about him and i know most of you would have plenty negative to say but his column is still the most interesting thing in the Leader, I'm sorry but I don't believe for a minute that any Limerick GAA man is conscientiously objecting to buying the paper and i bet ye're all reading it every week while frothing at the mouth.
I'm a recent blow in to Limerick so I don't know much about him really, what sort of playing career did he have jaykeane? I believe he trains a few teams.
Was he the commentator for radio 1 yesterday on the Kerry- Tipp match? Whoever that was is studying Micheal O'Mur.... too closely, "As wide as the square in Mitchelstown.... when Tipp introduced Richie Ryan he informed us that there was once a finance minister called that name but not sure if they are related"

I don't agree with everything Kiely says either but I respect his right to say it. I do think however, that he is a bully when he wants to be and uses his position to score points against those whom he dislikes. His comments about the hurlers were below the belt to say the least although the retort from the players was equally childish. I don't want to and will not get into an argument over this.

Kiely has a very impressive handball CV with many titles under his belt and I remember him playing many times. His manner could be abrasive to say the least and he asked for and took no quarter in the court almost coming to blows with opposition on more than one occasion.

Jimmy Paddy,

The Limeriick No 2 is Stephen Walsh and he plays for Glenroe and in football for Ballylanders.
He was a member of Mickey Neds Football panel a few years back and if I am not mistaken he has bit of a Yellow Belly pedigree I think his Dad Is a Wexford man.

Martin Kielys article is one if not the only reason I buy the leader...he has an indepth knowledge of local & National affairs and is not afraid to speak his mind which in a lot of cases is the truth...This doesnt suit the County Board as he correctly highlights their many Shortcomings...A bit like having No PRO they just dont want people to know about their cosy little cartel and try to badmouth anyone that highlights their abysmal efforts at running a countys GAA...

the crack with the press night wouldnt happen in Father Ted...
"dougal...you did invite the press...didnt you?..
"....Ah Ted I knew I Forgot Something...!..
